I woke up to the sound of Levi and my mum talking about breakfast, and my head pounding like crazy. I couldn't really remember anything except the fact that I had had a lot of pink lemonade recently.
I was secretly hoping for some more lemonade, but I was pretty sure that was what was causing my splitting headache.
All I wanted to do was go back to sleep and stay there, but that wasn't a choice. I needed to wake up and find out exactly what had happened when I'd passed out, no matter how badly I was aching all over.
Rubbing my eyes, I stretched to try and remove the cramps that were taking over my body. What I didn't account for was that I was right next to the edge of my bed already. When I rolled over in the process of trying to wake myself up, suddenly all the soft material wasn't there anymore and I was falling about half a metre through air.
If nothing else did, the bump to my head as I crashed into my desk and my (may I just point out, wooden) floor definitely woke me up.
The pain to my head was now unbearable. Inside and outside.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow," I chanted in pain, sitting up and rubbing my head furiously. "Ow, ow, ow, ow, damn you desk, ow, ow, ow, ahhhhh..."
I didn't have enough energy to even stand up, or that might have been because of my throbbing head. Even after a long sleep, I still felt as if I was going to pass out. I was sure my head was throbbing so loudly that the rest of my family could definitely hear it. It wasn't surprising when I wanted to lie down, but the thing was, my brain was so tired that I just drifted back to the ground.
Maybe I should have looked where my head was aiming for, because I felt a sharp corner dig into my hair.
It wasn't a knife (although it felt like one), but instead, it was a brand new copy of a Chemistry textbook with the plastic cover on it.
I then started screaming due to the immense pain in my head. I was positive my hair was starting to be stained a dark red colour because of the sharp cut my head had. Thankfully, somebody heard my cry for help and ran upstairs.
"Alexis, what on earth is the matter," my mum droned, opening the door and sounding extremely bored.
Can't you see that I'm rolling around on my messy carpet in severe pain? "My head hurts." My voice sounded pretty tired and slightly slurred. I didn't even have the energy to correct the Alexis.
"That isn't surprising, because of the irresponsible drinking of champagne last night and the fact that your bedroom is ridiculously messy," she says.
"Mum, I've banged my head and cut my head, as well as having a freaking headache," I complained.
"Your own fault."
Have some sympathy, woman! "Mum, at least help! My head's like bleeding here!"
"Alexis. Turn around and look at me."
I did as she said, and the look on my mother's face was one I had never seen in my life. It was a mixture of anger, frustration and just disappointment.
In me.
"Mum, what did I do?"
"You know very well what you did, young lady," my mum said flatly. "Oh wait, you're probably too drunk to remember."
How could I be drunk if I hadn't had any alcohol? That made no sense. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Oh, you very well do!" My mum shouted at me.
I looked at her blankly.
"Well, Alexis-"
