I drove as fast as any person could only using one hand, the other was still in a cast until next week. After 15 intense minutes, I made it back to headquarters. I parked my car quite badly, but I didn’t try to fix it. I ran straight to the entrance and swiped my card against the ID scanner on the wall. The scanner flashed for a few seconds and then came up red, flashing access denied. What the fuck, since when wasn’t I allowed in? “Open up!” I yelled, while pounding my fist against the door. I heard a slight squeak, and then the microphone attached to the security camera started to speak. “Agent Mason you are on leave at the moment, please leave now.”

“You don’t understand” I shouted back “I saw Demetri, he’s here in London.

“Demetri was seen in Russia yesterday morning, you cannot have seen him, now please leave.”

“You’re hopeless” I screamed back, before I turned around and left. Was it possible that I hadn’t seen Demetri? I know I saw him, I could not have made a mistake. Could I? The thought of this consumed my mind for the rest of the weekend, and before I knew it, Monday had come around again. and I was making my way to English, to suffer another period with Renolds. Wait that was it, Renolds was an agent, I could tell him what happened, and he could relay my message back to our Superior, only trouble was what if he wouldn’t believe me?

I waited until the end of class to tell him, but when I tried, some kid in my class went up to ask him a question about the essay he assigned us. Sighing, I gave up, and decided to try later. It wasn’t until lunch did I get my chance. I slipped into Renolds room and locked the door. Turning around I tried to get his attention. “Renolds. . . Renolds” great, he was listening to his stupid iPod. “Ezra!” I bellowed and he turned off the music. His head quickly snapped around to face me, while he jerked his ear-buds free.

“What?” was his reply.

“Demetri is back”

“Are you sure?” said Renolds, as he leaped to his feet, and grabbed a gun out of his desk.

“Put that away” I hissed “He’s not here you idiot, I saw him at the mall on Saturday.”

Ezra visibly relaxed before he spoke again. “Why are you telling me this, and why wait, you should have gone straight to headquarters, you know better than this.”

“Well my access has been denied while I’m on leave, so there’s no way for me to get in.”

“Fine then, we’ll go together after school, and tell them then.”

School finally ended, and Ezra and I were on our way to headquarters, in his brand new Audi. I insisted on driving by myself, but he wouldn’t have that. We sat in the car in total silence, every time I reached over to turn on the radio, my hand would get swatted away. After 20 minutes of agonizing silence, we finally arrived and made our way inside.

Making our way through the hallways, I burst into my Superior’s office without bothering to knock. I had little control at this point. Slamming my fist on his deck, I proceeded to yell at him “Demetri is back you idiot, and I can’t believe you’re being so god-awful stupid to ignore us.”

“I’m only going to say this once” he growled back. “Demetri is in Russia as of this moment, and has never once left.”

“You’re lying” I laughed “I saw him at the mall.”

“At the mall? Are you out of your mind? You know, I think that ever since you’ve been off of active duty you're jumping at the slightest things. I’ve been working you too hard, and I’m sorry. I think it’s for the best if I keep you off of active duty for another 6 months.”

“Are you out of your mind?!”

“No, but you are. Now leave, and try to relax for once in your life.”

I couldn’t believe this, how could he not believe me? I’ve always been right, I don’t imagine things do I?

Do I?
