"Yeah, stubborn coconut head."

Maya made a confused and dumbfounded face at the chocolate colored haired boy in front of her. She was now sitting up on the hammock, staring at him.

"Don't call me that." Maya mumbled, crossing her arms.

"Why not, coconut head?" He grinned looking at her.

"Stop it!" She commanded the boy. "It's weird, I don't know even you."

The boy just chuckled, "Wow, considering I just basically saved your life, thanks to myself." He cockily says.

Maya scoffed, "I would have rather been hit in the head by a coconut, than be saved by you."

Now it was the boys' turn to scoff, "Attitude much?"

"Cocky much?"

"Too shay."

They stared at each other for a moment, before both of them started smiling. The girl and the boy figured out that the both of them are stubborn, and somehow it intrigued one another.

"I'm Kai." He finally greeted her, and smiled.

"Maya." She flashed a soft smile also.

"I've never seen you before, did you just move here or something?"

"Uh no, I'm actually staying with my aunt and her family for the summer."

Kai nodded at Maya, "That's cool, where are you from then?"

"California."

"Of course you are," Kai playfully rolls his eyes, before Maya was about to interrupt, but he asked another question.

"Which part?"

"Los Angeles."

"Ah, so you're a city girl." He nods his head slowly.

Maya nodded and looked at him, wondering why she was sharing this with a strange, but very good looking boy.

"Do you have any siblings?"

"Why do you wanna know?" Maya asked, but it came out more rude than she intended.

"What's so wrong with wanting to get to know you?"

"There's nothing wrong, it's just, I don't know," Maya scratched her neck, "I just met you, and why do you wanna get to know me?"

Kai looked at her, he seemed to be looking for an answer.

"You just seem more intriguing than most people."

Maya snorted, not believing him, "How?"

"I don't know what it is, but I'll get back to you on that."

Maya furrowed her eyebrows, very curious about Kai.

"Anyways, do you think, I could possibly get your phone number?"

"No."

"Well why not?"

Maya thought for a moment, "My mom told me not to give my number out to strangers."

Kai chuckled at her response, "Okay Maya."

Maya averted her gaze to Kai. A pink tint rising to her cheeks when he said her name, hoping he didn't notice.

"I guess I'll see you around then, yeah?" Kai looked at Maya, waiting for a response.

"Maybe." Maya had a playful smirk on her face. Kai chuckled again, shaking his head and looking down repeating the word 'maybe' to himself.

He began walking away, but turned around and quickly waved and smiled at Maya. She returned the gesture and watched the boy walk away from where he saved her from getting hit in the head by a coconut.
