Chapter 13 - To the park!
Thursday found its self at my doorstep. Paul's birthday was written on my calender in a black ink to remind myself later. I decided I would pleasant towards Paul for just the day. Everyone is invited to some party at Paul's place. Which is also George's place. And Ringo was going to move in in a while because he lived on the other side of town. I knew lots of their friends that I have never met were invited but also a lots for people I do know are invited as well.
Ringo told me he would met me there. Which is fine. I heard it was a suprise party but I really not sure if thats right. I figured I would walk to the party and Ringo or someone could bring me home.
I was reading on my couch just after lunch time when my phone rung from the table by the door to my room. I sighed and stood, setting my book down on the coffee table in front of me. Then quickly moving over to the phone and picking it up.
"Hello?" I said pleasantly into the telephone.
"Holly!" A voice of a guy shouted out of the phone. I nearly jumped back.
"What the fuck is going on John?" I said, not as loud, back.
"Paul is probably coming over." John spoke, fast and loud.
"He is? Why!" I didn't want to see Paul right then.
"We kicked him out of his house for the party later."
"So he has no where else to go!" I knew Paul wasn't a lonely guy. He had a lot of friends, surely.
"We kind of made sure he could only go to your place." I could see his face through his words. It made me laugh.
"Yeah, ok." I was trying to make sense of all this, "So why did you call me?"
John sighed, "Just bring Paul back to his place at 6:30. No sooner. Bye" And he hung up. I place the phone back and heard the a knock on the door. And who else would it be. So I traveled over to the door and opened it quietly. They was Paul, sitting quietly on the metal frame of the stairs, which were right there.
"Hey Paul." I need to seem like nothing was happening, "Whats up?" I leaned against the door frame, my hands at my sides.
"I got kicked out of my small house." Paul was acting more like a friend, not a love interest.
"By who?" Trying hard not to know anything about his presents, possibly too hard.
"Everybody I know except you." He answered pretty calmly. I nodded and told him to stay there. I turned around and grabbed my purse. I walked back to the door and shut it behind me.
"Well let's go do something." I waved for him to follow me down the stairs.
"Why?" Paul asked from behind me. I simply stopped and looked back up at him.
"Because it's your birthday, and staying at my apartment is a boring ass way to spend it." I started back down the stairs again, not to turn around anymore.
"Alright." Paul said, "Where are we going to go?"
"I don't know." I thought about it as we reached Paul's car. And I thought of the perfect place as I sat in the passenger seat, "Lets go to that old park."
"Where you slapped me?" He said as he drove down the road. I looked at him for a second, he also looking at me though the corner of his eye. Then we both started laughing pretty hard. I don't know, it was just really funny to think about it.
Once my laughing calmed down some, I was able to speak, "Yeah, sorry about that."
"It's ok." He stifled some laughs under his breath. And so did I.

When we pulled up to the old park, I smiled at the memories. It looked the same as it did years ago. The forest was still sitting behind the park, swaying in the wind. A few trees that I'm sure shrunk stood beside the old path. The grass was a little brown and tall but not to bad. A couple benches still stood but a few had fallen. The sun was covered by a few couple small moving clouds.
I stepped out of the car and walked down the same old path. Paul was next to me, standing at a friendly distance. I came up to my favorite tree, the perfect one to climb.
"I miss Liverpool sometimes." My hand brushed the trunk of the tree. Before I began to climb up the tree. I griped the first branch and pulled my body up the tree, before sitting on one of the top branches. I could see pretty far and I looked at Paul below me. I could kick just the top of his hair with my toes. "Come on!" He sighed and climbed up next to me. I scoot over and let him sit next to me.
"Haven't climbed a tree in... 10 years." Paul said looking forward like me.
"There arn't enough trees in New York." I watched as some kids came into the park. A few boys and a girl. The girl was taller then the boys but it seemed like they didn't like each other. The girl shouted something at the boy, I couldn't make out what they were saying. It just made me feel kind of bad. The kids ran away, out of the park and possibly home.
"You ok?" Paul caught my attention.
"Hm? Oh." I was a bit supised that he talked, "Yeah, I'm fine. Just I'm sorry." I looked at my swinging legs.
He understood what I was saying, "Lets just not worry about that. We can just be friends." I smiled, friends. Exactly what I need from Paul.
Friendship, and nothing more.
