Marcel's POV:

Monday morning had finally come and reality was about to kick my butt, literally. I wasn't looking forward to seeing anyone at school except for McKenna. We were going to be starting our project in calculus which meant we would be spending a lot of time together over the next week or so. That was the only thing that was holding me together. The bruise from the other day had finally disappeared, but that didn't mean the memory did.

I put on my usual sweater vest and pants. I decided not to wear the suspenders today. I pushed my glasses to the bridge of my nose and looked in the mirror. Well this is as good as it's going to get, I told myself. I made my way downstairs and poured a bowl of cereal.

I heard Harry and Edward walking down the stairs talking about some girl.

"So at that party last weekend did you hook up with any girls?" Harry asked Edward.

"No."

"Well that hickey would suggest otherwise," Harry said suspiciously. I looked up to see the dark purple mark on Edward's neck.

"Is it that noticeable?" he asked.

"Mmhmm. I don't think there's anyway to cover that baby up," Harry said. "So who was the lucky girl you deflowered."

"I told you, I didn't have sex with anyone," I was surprised Edward wasn't gushing about his latest conquest. That either meant he really liked someone or he was ashamed of who it was.

"Seriously. That girl must have you whipped then," Harry said smacking Edwards butt.

"No. I just didn't want to take advantage of her when she was drunk." Edward said point blank.

"Oh look Ed actually has a soul. So what's the girl's name?" Harry pried for a name.

"It's not important," Edward said trying to brush it off. But I knew Harry too well, he wasn't going to let it go.

I turned back to my cereal and tried to ignore their conversation until I heard McKenna's name. I perked up at the mention of her name. And then I realized what he was talking about. Edward liked McKenna, that meant that I had no chance with her. No chance at all. I put my head back down and continued to eat my breakfast while listening to the rest of their conversation.

"Seriously. I told you to stay away from her Ed," Harry said angrily.

"I told you, may the best brother win" Ed said. "That means you too Marcel," he said turning to me. I looked at him to see if he was serious. "What's wrong with a little brotherly competition?"

"The fact that she's a person not a piece of meat" I replied.

"I know that. And she's one special girl," Edward said. "And by the looks of it, with this hickey, I'm winning."

I was starting to get pissed off. I mean I never really took interest in girls until this one. She was special. But again I had no chance with her if both Harry and Edward were competing for her. In fact I wanted nothing to do with her if those two did. I would not have another Monica situation.

When I got to school I sat down in my seat with my head down. Today I wasn't going to make myself a fool. If McKenna was hooking up with Edward I wanted nothing to do with her. I just couldn't believe that my only friend would betray me like that. Then again I didn't have any rights to her, but it still hurt. I guess I was just kidding myself to think that a girl like McKenna would actually like me, Marcel, dorky loser Marcel.

"Hi Marcel!" McKenna chirped. I didn't look up and I didn't acknowledge her. "Marcel? Hello?" she said patting my arm then she started shaking it. "Are you mad at me?"
