Two Weeks Later...

Rebekah's POV

I felt Piero pacing in front of me. I had insisted that the doctor look at my eyes and tell me if I will ever see again. They were not familiar with the serum that Aces had injected into me, so it was going to take awhile before they would know. For the past two weeks Piero has been with me. He even moved into our house. Since I can't see Piero and Mary have to help me with everything. My little dog Emery was now a seeing eye dog so I could do some things when I'm at home alone, not that Piero usually wanted me alone. Emery yapped next to me. I reached out to pet him. I must have been far off because Emery ran over to my hand and nudged it. Piero sat down next to me and started to caress my hand. The night that Piero had taken me from Aces's hideout, I felt like some part of me was lost. Before I hadn't really put much consideration into me not being able to see, but now I do. I turned as I heard the doctor walk in.

"Well Rebekah, we aren't exactly sure how it will work, but we think we may be able to fix your eye sight. The serum that he had injected into your blood stream is foreign to us. The surgery that would be needed to fix your eye sight, may have the opposite effect."

"What do you mean?" Piero asked.

"As in, instead of fixing your eye sight, you may lose some other abilities."

"Like what?" I asked.

"Oh I don't know. Hearing, speaking, smell, and maybe even the ability to move at all. This is very risky Rebekah and you must consider all of your options. Being able to see or not being able to see and avoid the possible effects of losing something else."

I thought about it. Piero squeezed my hand.

"You don't have to do this. Even if you can't see, you could still keep other things that you can do. If you weren't able to move or speak," he whispered, "my heart would break into a million pieces."

Suddenly I knew my answer.

"Doctor Rosa. I want to have the surgery."
