Rebekah's POV

It felt like I was falling. I opened my mouth, but nothing came out. My heart was racing. I opened my eyes just to see a bright light. Everything started going into focus. I was in a white room, standing in the corner, looking at a girl laying on a hospital bed. She looked so pale and sickly. A boy was sitting next to her holding her hand. It looked like he had been crying. I feel so sorry for him. I wonder what she was to him. A sister maybe? The room started changing and I looked around. I suddenly found myself standing in a waiting room. My Aunt Mary was sitting next to my father. Wait. I can see again! I ran over to them started jumping around.

"Mary! I can see!" I called out.

They didn't even look up.

"Hello?" I said.

I felt a hand touch my shoulder. I turned around to see my mother smiling down at me. Tears gathered in my eyes.

"Mommy?" I asked.

"Yes Rebekah." She replied.

I gave her a big hug.

"Mommy I've missed you so much! How are you here?"

She ran her hand through my hair.

"I've been waiting for you and your father to join me."

I was confused. My mother died months ago, so that would mean...

"What happened to me?"

"Your surgery didn't work as planned. I'm sorry."

I backed away from her. This couldn't be happening. Maybe I'm just dreaming and I'll wake up soon. Yes, that's it. I ran to the room where I was sleeping. Piero was crying over my hand. I grabbed his shoulder. He wouldn't look at me. I noticed his lips moving.

"Lord," I heard him whisper, "please don't let her leave me. She has been the light of my world and I love her so much. If she were to die, I don't know what I'd do. Please. She's just a young girl. She had so much life to live."

I backed away from him.

"Piero, I'm right here." I said as calmly as I could.

He didn't look up.

"Piero! Look at me!"

No answer. I felt myself starting to cry. Why did this have to happen? I sank to the floor.

"Lord, can you here me? I want to go back to Piero. Please. He's my whole world! I love him so much and I want to spend at least a little more time with him. Please."

Suddenly the room was full of light. I closed my eyes and shielded my face with my hands.

Piero's POV

I listened as the heart monitor beat slower and slower. Tears were streaming down my face. Why did she take the surgery? She could have lived her life blind. Even more she could have lived. I was dreading the moment that the monitor completely stopped.

"Rebekah I'm so sorry. I should have never let you take the surgery." I said softly.

Suddenly I couldn't hear the monitor. Nothing. No sound. My heart completely shattered. My body started moving. Tears came out faster than I could have ever imagined possible. I couldn't bare the pain. A cry of agony escaped my lips.

Rebekah's POV

The first thing I heard was someone cry next to me. I opened my eyes to see that I was in the same room except I was laying in the bed. A hand was wrapped around mine. I turned to see Piero crying. My heart broke. Then it hit me. I'm not dead.

"Piero?" I asked.

His head snapped up to look at me.

"Rebekah!" He cried.

That's when I knew everything was alright.
