Being the hero
Being the hero isn't so grand, nothing ever goes as planned
Trying to survive in a world of hate
Standing strong for my kids sake
Doing everything that'll make them say
Daddys my Superman, someday
Staying strong even though I feel weak
Trying to watch the words I speak
Being a hero in the eyes of my child
One day it may be worthwhile
But for now all I know, being a hero seriously blows
Standing still when you want to run
Running towards danger without a gun
Showing them the light inside each heart
Fighting off monsters in the dark
Going out of my way each with each scream I hear
Only to find out it was screams of cheer
One day I know my feelings will change
But for now my body is so drained
When I look back I know they'll remember the ways
Their daddy their hero stood strong on the darkest of days
