We had just arrived in Omaha Nebraska, Nate's hometown, and to say I was freezing was an understatement. It had been a long plane ride, and to my surprise Patty had joined us with Sammy to meet his parents.
Our uber arrived and we all piled into the car. I snuggled up against Nate, trying to take as much heat that was radiating off him as I could possibly get. From the minute we had touched down Nate couldn't keep the smile off his face. Seeing him smile at the thought of being home made me all warm inside and I couldn't help but smile back.
We pulled up to a medium sized house and Nate grinned down at me. He opened the door and grabbed my hand, pulling me out of the car with him. We grabbed our luggage from the trunk of the car and I waved goodbye to both Patty and Sammy as Patty mouthed "good luck"
We walked up to the front door and I nervously began pulling on the sleeves of my jacket. Nate noticed this and stopped himself from knocking before turning towards me.
"What's wrong?" He looked down at me with a worried look on his face as I shifted in place.
"What if I do something dumb? I'm not even wearing something cute, I look like a complete bum! And what if they think I'm not good enough? And-" I ramble.
He grabbed my face in between his hands and looked down me. "Babe, they'll love you, trust me. And even if they don't, It wouldn't change how I feel about you." He smiled down at me and kissed my forehead. "Now, show me a big smile." He grinned. I laughed and couldn't help the grin that made its way onto my face.
"Okay, I'm ready." I said determinedly. He knocked on the door and I listened as footsteps neared the door until it creaked open and there stood, what I assume to be, Nate's mother.
I watched as he grinned and rushed into his mothers open arms. I smiled at the sight and the thought of Nate being happy.
They let go of their embrace and his mom had a few tears in her eyes. Nate smiled and turned around towards me. "Mom, this is my wonderful girlfriend Addilyn."
I smiled and stretched my hand out. She completely disregarded my outstretched hand and pulled me into a bone crush hug. She let go and pulled away smiling. "It's so nice to finally meet the girl that Nate can't seem to stop talking about."
I smiled and and tugged at my sleeves. "It is so nice to finally meet you too Mrs. Maloley."
"Psh, call me Kami. Mrs. Maloley makes me feel old." I giggled and nodded. "Now lets get you kids inside before you catch a cold."
We all shuffled inside as Kami lead us into the living room where his father, brother, and sister sat. I nervously walked behind Nate as he grabbed my hand in comfort.
"Guys this is my girlfriend Addilyn." I waved and smiled at everyone. Monte was the first one to stand up and bring me into an embrace. "It's nice to meet you."
"It's nice to meet you too Mr.Malol-" He cut me off with a scoff, "Call me Monte, I'm not that old yet." I laughed and nodded.
His sister was next and she also pulled me into an embrace. "I'm Kaylan, but you can call me sister in law." Nate choked on his water and I let out a small laugh as Kaylan rose her hands up in surrender, "Joking." Nate glared at her but ended up smiling and pulling her into a hug.
His little brother walked up and also pulled me into an embrace. "I'm Stewart, but you can call me the man of your dreams." A laugh escaped my lips as Nate hit his younger brother upside the head. "Or you can call me Stew, Yea. Just call me Stew." He rubbed the spot on his head as Nate glared at him.
I giggled and Nate pulled me beside him on the couch.
"So is there a reason why we had to wait almost a year to meet this young lady." Nate rubbed the back of his neck as he put an arm around my shoulders.
"I didn't want you guys to scare her away." Nate smirked. His whole family glared at him and started arguing. I smiled at the sight and leaned against Nate laughing at their banter, this felt like home already.
We had spent most of the time getting to know each other and now it was time to go to bed.
"You guys can go ahead and sleep in Nate's room, just no funny business." Nate groaned at his father's words and stood up. I followed behind him and called out a good night to the Maloley family.
We walked into his room, and I observed the white walls and the pictures on a desk in the corner. I smiled slightly and made my way onto his bed.
"Babe? Aren't you going to change into more comfortable clothes?" I groaned and rose both my hands up. He chuckled and walked towards me, taking off my shirt. He pulled one of his shirts over my head and pulled off my shoes and leggings.
I curled up on the bed as I heard him rustle through his drawers. I heard him unzip his pants and was later met with the warmth radiating off his body. I cuddled up to his shirtless torso and laid a soft kiss on his chest. "Night." I mumbled.
He wrapped his arms around me and pecked my forehead. "I love you."
"I love you too." I mumbled, half asleep. He chuckled and pulled the blanket over both our bodies.
