He was so happy when he talked about his family, his eyes would crinkle on the sides and his eyes would shine, he glowed somehow.

I wanted to figure out a way to help Calum. I needed to find a way to get him to his family. I knew he missed them desperately and I couldn't bear to see him sad any longer. I had to contact his mother somehow.

I researched all day and learned the necessary information to create a link between this world and the further. I hadn't seen Calum this morning but it'll give me time to prepare everything.

I never thought it would work but I created a platform for the link. I was going to wait for the right time to tell Calum. He deserved to be with his family more than anything. He needed to see them, to finally be with them.

I was making sandwiches downstairs in the kitchen when I felt a breeze. "Calum! Calum is that you?" I raised my voice higher so he could hear me. In a second he appeared next to me. "Hey, what have you been doing today?" He leaned on the counter. "I was doing work and now I'm making food. I can't work on an empty stomach you know." He laughed and said, "I found my family's old things in the attic today, I want to show you some things."

I reached the upstairs and he was standing there waiting for me. He gestured to the string to pull down the stairs that led to the attic. I pulled down the creaky contraption and slowly climbed to the top. I climbed up and Calum lit the light. He led me to a corner where boxes were stacked on top of each other. He opened the box and took out a photo album, sitting us down. Calum flipped to the first page and there was one picture in it. It was his family in front of this house. His grandma and grandpa were sitting on the left and his mom and dad were standing on the right while his sister was holding him. Everyone was smiling in the photo. I looked at Calum whose hand was shaking and his eyes were glossy. I immediately hugged him and whispered soothing things. His sniffles broke my heart. I tried not to tear up because of him and I wiped my eyes. "I just miss them so much.", He said choked up. I took his hand and led him out of the attic to my room.

We sat on the roof and stared at the horizon. Calum looked like he was deep in thought and it hurt to see him like this. I need to get him back to his family.

I'm so sorry for not updating in forever, I had horrible writers block and no time to sit down and write. I'm planning on ending this story on chapter 10. It's summer vacation for me now and it's crazy that I'm already a Junior. -Ana
