"You may be a ghost but I still believe you're my guardian angel."

A l e x a R i v e r sCalum and I discussed how to make the connection and planned what to do at what time in order to conduct it safely and correctly.
We wrote down every step and Calum told me when to do what when he gave the signal. According to him, making connections is very dangerous and it could go one of both ways. It could go well and Calum would finally be reunited with his family or—well, I'd be in danger by the ghost world and there would be traumatic events... Let's not talk about that aspect until we absolutely need to.
Calum set out the board and put his lock of hair in the center. He began mumbling a number of things as I sat next to him, prepping myself for the plan.
I felt a difference in the atmosphere.
"Okay, we have access to the realm
now. We need to hurry before this portal closes." Calum said, looking at me urgently.I took the book Calum had given me and began reading out verses. Calum was standing and trying to get a hold of the connection so that he could grab on and travel to the further. There was a gap between realms and temperatures were dropping. I kept getting this weird feeling in my stomach. I kept pushing through anyway, knowing this was all for Calum and his happiness. I continued reading verses and Calum kept moving the board piece, trying to contact his mother.
The atmosphere was getting heavier but I wasn't going to fail. I needed to help Calum. The window bursted open and wind began twisting through the room.
We followed our plan and we were at the most important part of the ritual to create the connection— the additional item to create the difference between the portals for the further and the living realm. I took the bracelet Calum had given me and placed it on the board. I read off another line and then I felt pain in my chest. Things were shaking and the wind was still blowing. It was getting hard to breathe. Why couldn't I breath? I began to panic but tried to still keep the portal open. Calum was chanting and asking the board different things. I let out a small yelp and he turned his head.
"Don't lose concentration! Don't pay attention to me!" I yelled. He hesitated for a second but reluctantly continued trying to find a balance to create a bearable atmosphere in the room.
Outside had gotten dark and gloomy. Dark clouds blocked the once bright sun. The room was shaking and things were falling off shelves. Calum yelled in pain as the connection began to grab him. It felt Calum tearing through the portal and it felt my pleads. He was talking me through the whole thing to try and help me stay calm. He would give me updates every minute or so.
"Alexa you know I love you."
"I'll always be watching you and protecting you."
"You have nothing to worry about Alexa."
"I'm passing through the portal."
"I'm almost through it."
"I'll always remember you Alexa Rivers." He said, I could hear the pain and the sadness and the happiness in is voice.
"I'm going to miss you." I said, a few droplets ran down my cheek.
When I could only see a small part of Calum I said, "I'll never forget the time we spent with each other."
"I love you." I heard him yell.
"I love you Calum." I said back.I felt a pang of feeling run through my whole body. All the memories flashed through my mind and then he was gone. Tears were all over my face and the room was a mess. I picked up a few fallen things and put them back on the shelves. I felt a breeze and turned to the window. There on the windowsill was a note.
I'll always be looking out for you.
Sincerely,
Your ghost friend, promoted to guardian angel________________________
