We sat on the roof and stared at the horizon. Calum looked like he was deep in thought and it hurt to see him like this. I need to get him back to his family.

8:45 am
I woke up to my parents calling me for breakfast. I turned to my side hoping to find Calum laying there but he wasn't. I didn't know where he went but I hoped he'd be back soon. I changed in the bathroom and went downstairs.

"Hey pumpkin, how did you sleep?" My dad asked, taking a bite from his omelet.
"I slept okay." I hadn't slept much. I stayed up trying to think of ways to help Cal.
"We're off to work now, darling." My mom said smiling. I ate my breakfast, washed the dishes, and went back up to the attic.

I looked through boxes trying to find clues. Some type of way to make a connection. All I wanted was some type of object or saying to make a tie or a connection between the further and the living realm.

I flipped through old books, photo albums and opened boxes until I came across a certain box. In the box there was a baby bib, pacifier, rattle, blanket, and a teddy bear. I rummaged through the baby items and found something at the bottom. It was Calum's birth certificate and a small lock of his hair labeled "Calum's first haircut".

It struck me that this could be the connection I needed. I studied his birth certificate.
Calum Thomas Hood
Date of birth: January 25th 1978— that means... he'd be 38 years old now.
I shook my head to focus and gathered the needed objects to attempt to make a connection. I couldn't stand the sight of Calum sad anymore.

I climbed down the stairs and to my room. I put the objects next to the ouija board. I wanted Calum to be here. I spent my time waiting, researching as much as I could.

12:24 pm

Calum walked through the wall. "Hey Alexa, I have to talk to you." He sat down in front of me.
"I have some things I need to talk to you about." I looked at him, he nodded showing me to go first.

I looked towards the items then back to him. "I want to help you. I want to try and make a connection so that you can be pulled back into the other side where your family is."
He sighed, "Alexa, I told you don't play with the ouija board, bad things will happen. Going to the further isn't that easy, if I could've made a connection to get back I would've done it a long time ago."

"Isn't there anything I can do?"

"Tomorrow we'll go over the steps but I think we can somehow pull this off." He smiled at me.

"So what were you going to say?" I asked, tilting my head.

He nervously looked down and then at me. "Well, you see—the things is—I want to give you something." He said and put his hand in his pocket.

"Remember when we were looking through the things in that box under the floorboard and I found that bracelet? My mom meant so much to me and the bracelet meant a lot to her. She told me to give it to the girl I really loved and after 38 years, I finally found her." He took the bracelet from his pocket and put it on my wrist. I looked down at it and back at him in astonishment.

"I can't believe this is happening." I said with a smile.

"Do you feel the same way?" He asked, nervously. I nodded and hugged him. He kissed my head and rubbed my back. "That day I said 'mom I found her' when I told you about the bracelet. You weren't supposed to hear that." He laughed, sheepishly.

"I didn't hear you." I laughed,  "This is the sweetest thing anyone's ever done for me, thank you Calum." I said, grinning.

"Anything for you." He stared lovingly, with a glimmer in his sparkling brown eyes.

"You may be a ghost but I still believe you're my guardian angel."
