It had been just under around 20 minutes and I was freezing. I was sitting on the curb under the tree, but the rain still reached me. The wind blew hard. I had no idea how I was supposed to get home. I was completely lost. I just sat and tried to keep warm hoping for a miracle. After about 5 minutes more I couldn't take I got up and started walking again. None of the streets looked familiar to me. Great (note my sarcasm). I found my way to a park by a school. It looked like an elementary school. I went to sit on the swings. They were soaking wet but it didn't matter because I was already drenched head to toe. I couldn't help it tears streamed down my face. I usually don't cry, I usually keep it inside so no one knows that I'm upset but after today's events I needed to cry. I heard footsteps coming across the rocks that surrounded the swings. I didn't bother to look up. I heard the other swing squeak, I figured the other person had sat down on it. Feeling curious I finally looked up and to my surprise saw Jacob. I just looked at him as he looked at the ground. I looked away, and I could feel his gaze on me. "Can you show me the way back to the house?" I asked, while wiping the rain off my face. "Uh s-sure" he stuttered.
We both got up and started walking. My whole body was shivering from the cold rain. Jacob looked over at me and smiled as he handed me his red sweater that said magcon. "Here" he said. "You need it more than I do" he placed the sweater on my hands. "Thanks but won't you be cold?" I asked. "Nah I'll be fine. I have a long sleeve shirt on anyways. Just take it. You need it" he offered. "Ok. Thanks" I put the sweater on and we continued down the sidewalk. The sweater was mostly wet, but it was still enough to stop me from shivering. Why was Jacob being so nice to me? After all I did over hear them taking about how disliked I was in their eyes. I looked over at Jacob and found him staring at me. "Why are you so so nice to me?" I blurted out. I couldn't help it. I needed to know. "Well, I may not know you that well yet, but wether I know you or not Bryce shouldn't be as rude as he is. You deserve to be treated better and if he isn't going to then I will. You deserve respect" wow. That took me by surprise. No one has ever said that I deserve respect. "Wow thank you. No one has ever treated me so well" speaking the truth. "Your welcome" he said as he winked. He was really cute as he winked.
We turned down a street that I finally found familiar. We walked for a couple more minutes and arrived at the house. "Thanks for coming to find me and everything. Here's your sweater back" I said as I handed him his sweater. "No problem, and you can keep the sweater" he replied. As we walked up the drive way and rang the doorbell he grabbed my hand. We were holding hands as we waited. I was kinda nervous since no one really every does this, and never a boy. The door opened, and Mark welcomed us inside. "Wait here" he said. Mark came back with 2 towels that we used to dry off. "I'm gonna go take a shower" I told the 2 of them as I walked upstairs.
As the warm water hit my back it felt so nice. I turned off the water, changed into sweatpants and a sweater, and went back downstairs. As I went I saw Jacob and Mark. They both looked kinda nervous. "Bryce needs to talk to you, he's in the living room" Mark said looking at the floor. "Um, ok" I don't think I had a choice wether I wanted to talk to him or not. "What if he just acts like a jerk again? I don't want her getting hurt" I heard Jacob whisper to Mark. " I'm worried too, but we just have to have faith that he will do the right thing" I heard Mark whisper back. I walked in and saw Bryce. Oh shit.
