our lines have been

intersecting and

criss-crossing each other

for years.

i didn't notice how they

never stayed - never knotted

together,

just drifted apart.

then when the skies shattered

and the stars fell and brought

a storm of rains and words

we collapsed.

there wasn't anything

to hold us together;

there had never been,

i suppose.

there had been, once

but that was

an insignificantly long time ago.
