i wear a jade around my neck
and never take it off
i wish i could say
i've had it since i was little;
but unfortunately...
i broke that one.
so this is a new gem,
that my father gave to me
(and my mother finally approved of)
just this year, actually.
but it's no less special.
it's green
and has a swirly design:
almost like a
breath of air,
or a roaring wind,
or a rising wave.
it's simple
and about the size
of the first knuckle
of my thumb.
it's just long enough
to hang right over
where my heart is.
and in a way,
it is my
lucky charm:
protection,
care, and love
all in one.
represented
by a single jewel.
and i wonder how i
should ever repay
all the love
that has been given to me -
represented here,
by a single jewel -
whose worth
doesn't even begin
to compare
to that of which
it represents.
thank you.
