Since the organ incident, Liu hadn't talked much to Jeffrey. He knew he couldn't avoid him forever, but he would surely keep away as much as he could.
As he sat curled up alone with his thoughts, his rumbling stomach told him that he needed to make one of those small interactions.
It had been five days since he had any food. With everything occurring, and the constant upsetting of his stomach from gruesome scenes, he hadn't been able to feel hunger.
Liu looked up, seeing Jeffrey strolling in, attempting to whistle but failing. The shape of his lips wouldn't allow the air to flow right and create a tune. Liu tried whistling too, but it only hurt his cheeks and caused him to spit.
Slowly he stood up, thinking of how he could ask Jeffrey for food. It should have been a simple task really, but Jeffrey didn't even seem to eat. Unless those organs were for something else...
The very thought made Liu sick, and he quickly dismissed the idea.
His brother looked his way, seeming in a good mood. Maybe it would be okay to ask. No more slashing and slicing.
"Hey Liu. You haven't moved from that spot for hours." His good mood slowly faded as his face inched closer.
"What do you want", he said lowly.
Liu stared into his dark eyes, gulping harshly.
"N-nothing."
He bowed his head as to dismiss himself and started walking past Jeffrey. Something grabbed the collar of his shirt, partially choking him. Quickly he was spun around, facing his brother again.
"I want an honest answer. Don't just dismiss me!"
Liu was about to answer in fear of harm, but his grumbling stomach broke the silence. Jeffrey released Liu, laughing at him.
"Oh, so you're hungry", he said poking roughly at Liu's stomach. "Don't worry, we got some organs leftover."
Liu stared at him awkwardly, Jeffrey only laughing more. He clasped his hands on his knees like he was out of breath.
"Oh god kid. You're too gullible!"
He stood up straight, his laughing hysteria instantly gone. He leaned towards Liu, covering his mouth with his hand as he whispered into Liu's ear.
"But if you're interested, I know a guy who can really cook some kidneys."
Jeffrey's thick breath tickled Liu's ear, sending chills done his spine and causing him to jump away.
"N-no no! That's fine! I'm not hungry", Liu spat out worriedly.
Jeffrey laughed again, this time more sincere. He dug his hand into his pocket, pulling out a wad of money.
"Here, take fifty. Buy enough to last you a week."
Liu accepted the money, confused on how he came across it.
"Where did you get this", he blurted out. "You don't even have a job."
Liu instantly covered his mouth, looking fearfully at Jeffrey.
"S-sorry!"
Jeffrey just rolled his eyes. "Course I got a job. Killing people. Occasionally I sell some of the organs." He shrugged as if it were no big deal.
