Weak.
Pathetic.
Alone.
Trapped.
These words had circled through Liu's head over the course of time he had sat there. There was no looking outside. No seeing the sun or moon. Just a fluorescent light that only made him feel worse.
Occasionally Liu even spoke out loud to himself. Who needed to keep a conversation in their head when no one would even hear you.
"Why do you think he left?"
"Because I was insufficient."
"He used me to much. I'm not even a good chew toy."
Liu furrowed his brows.
"I shouldn't call myself that. I'm not his chew toy.
"Oh but aren't I? Even if I deny it, it doesn't void the truth."
Liu sighed, slumping farther into the floor, practically lying down. It still hurt to move with the cuts all over him. They were scabbing though, which would benefit him.
His stomach was in tight knots from hunger, adding to his pain. Liu almost wanted to go search for a left over corpse, but he didn't want to resort to that. That would probably give Jeffrey too much satisfactory.
Behind him a bolt slid, bringing both fear and excitement to Liu. He wasn't sure if it would be Jeffrey or a stranger. Either way, he could be free! He could leave!
Quickly he crawled away from the door, the large metal block opening inward. Out from behind it came a lean man in a dark suit. Liu frantically tried to hide, a new fear in him. Guess there was someone he didn't want to see.
"Whoa! Hey! Calm down", said the familiar voice.
"No! You stay away from me you cannibal", Liu yelled hysterically.
Jack proceeded into the warehouse anyways. He didn't try to get closer to Liu. The boy was sliced all over, still covered in dried blood. His frame was thinner than he remembered.
"What the hell did he do to you", Jack asked.
Liu looked up at him confused.
"What does that matter?"
Jack walked closer, Liu still paranoid by his presence. He knelt down in front of him, his soulless eyes bearing into Liu.
"Get away from me!" Liu kicked at his chest, letting out a groan from the pain he caused himself. It felt like some of the scabs may have opened a little.
Jack didn't fight back, but stayed at the distance he was put. Giving up on getting any closer, he sat crossed legged, getting comfortable.
"Fine. But could I at least know who you are?"
Liu was still frightened and confused. What did Jack care? He was as insane as his brother. Both murderers.
As if reading his thoughts, Jack spoke.
"You know, I don't kill people like Woods does. I just take their organs. Right after I stitch them back up."
Liu, relaxed a little, sitting in a more pleasing position.
"But weren't you going to kill me and my brother?"
Jack thought for a moment, becoming aware of their relation.
"I wouldn't of killed you. Though, Woods is another story. He's an ass. Killing him would actually save people." He paused. "You don't kill people, do you?"
Liu looked mortified by his question, feeling that this implied a death to him. Jack glanced at the ground.
"Sorry, wrong time for humor."
There was a long silence, Jack not knowing what to say, and Liu not wanting to really speak.
"So you and him are brothers", Jack asked, filling the silence.
Liu nodded.
"What, uh... Happened between you two?"
Liu bit on his nail, contemplating if he should share anything. It wouldn't really hurt if he did, and he needed to socialize to another physical being before he went insane.
"Well um, he tried to kill me."
"That's no surprise", Jack commented.
Liu glared at him before glancing away. He chewed on his nail again, staying silent.
"Sorry sorry. I'll be quiet."
Liu looked at him skeptically, but decided to continue.
"Obviously he didn't succeed. Of course I was traumatized. The police found me the next day after I had screamed for help the whole night. Noise disturbance to the neighbors."
Liu chuckled a little at that part, but Jack stayed to his word, keeping silent.
"Well, they saw how shaken and physically damaged I was and took me to the hospital. I was there for a few months, getting treatments. I went through physical and mental therapy. Eventually I felt the need to find my brother. See him, maybe resolve things. I knew killing was wrong, but he was my brother. In those moments, I remembered him from before the incident. Sometimes he was a jerk, but I knew he loved me."
Jack noticed Liu's voice becoming choked as tears started to well in his eyes. He couldn't feel his pain, but he could understand it.
"That's what made me want to forgive him. And of course ask him why. It was a stupid move, but I couldn't help myself. I was hoping maybe he changed. Maybe he wasn't crazy anymore. I felt upset because I thought my only brother was somewhere out in this world, alone..."
Now Liu found out that he was alone. Nothing had been resolved though. Nothing would ever be resolved. Jeffrey would always be a killer. And if Liu stayed here, he would always be his chew toy. Until he was dead.
Slowly he hunched over, hugging his knees and letting himself cry. No one was here to threaten him and tell him to stop. A hand was placed on his shoulder, but Liu didn't flinch. He just sat there in silence, letting Jack attempt his comfort.
Finally, having genuine human contact felt nice.
For once, he finally felt sane again.
He felt normal.
