Liu had chosen to live with Jack. It had been months since this decision was made. It was actually a pretty normal life. His wounds had healed up, only scars there to remind him of his past. Even without one of his kidneys, he was doing pretty well.

A week into his stay, he managed to get himself a job at a tattoo parlor. Now he wasn't any artist, but the people there were the only ones to accept his features. The scars tugging at the corners of his mouth still made him look like a freak. Instead of tattooing people, he worked as a receptionist and cleaned up equipment and such.

Along with his work life, he had his shady business to take care of. The day Jack had removed his kidney was also the day he promised to help acquire more victims. At first he just brought the bodies home, but soon took the organs himself. Being with his brother had revealed a villainous side of him. In this way he could take pleasure in cutting people open, but not have the guilt of them dying by his hands.

Staying with Jack had also opened his eyes to new people. People who were also in this crime loop. One had particularly taken his interest. A black-haired beauty with skin of a marble statue. Of course he was warned not to involve relationships with work. Also that a killer like her wasn't one to love. Liu of course grudgingly moved on, another girl at the tattoo parlor sweeping him off his feet.

And that's who he is with now, sitting across from a girl with long, curly hair, the color of the autumn trees. Her skin was lightly tanned, freckles splattered across her face. Rosy lips sipped on a straw as her amber eyes peered into his. He smiled at the girl named Hazel, glad that she fell for him. He never thought himself attractive with the scars, but she said she loved every bit of him.

"Why was John so mad anyways? It's not like it will affect him negatively", said the warm voice, freckled arms crossing over each other.

"Well, he feels it does. Like it'll ruin his reputation. I guess he's afraid it'll make him look like a sellout."

Hazel rolled her eyes. "Who cares? This business will shut down if he doesn't do something. He needs the extra money. Doesn't he realize that by not taking the offer, it'll run us out of jobs?"

Liu was too aware of that. He liked having a job. It was a nice change in pace. He didn't want to have to resort to actually murdering people and selling organs on the black market. Jack wasn't going to pay for everything.

"I know Hazel. We don't really have a say in the decision. We'll just have to hope we can persuade him and wish for the best."

An angered expression crossed her face, soon followed by a look of defeat.

"I guess you're right", she mumbled.

He looked at her with a reassuring smile and lightly squeezed her hand. Reaching over, he gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"It'll be okay Hazel", he said soothingly. He knew it would be okay. She gave him a smile and sighed.

"Now I'm going to go pay, and we can take a walk around the park. Relax a little and get our minds off of things."

He let go of her hand, standing up and pulling out his wallet. He paid for the meal and returned to Hazel, taking her hand in his and leading them out of the cafe.

The sun shined brightly on them, the glow making Hazel seem that of a heavenly being. They had started dating a month after Liu moved in with Jack. To him, things had never been better. Just this simple moment made him feel at peace.

"Liu", she asked somberly as they walked down the sidewalk. "If things say do go south, and we both don't have a job... What would happen? I mean, I no we don't live together or anything, but I don't want the stress of the situation to tear us apart."

Liu stopped, feeling the shaking of her hand in his. He turned to face her, pulling her into a hug. She wasn't crying, but it seemed like she would if she wasn't so stubborn to hide it.

"I've just never thought of a back-up plan you know. I'm young, living without a crutch. I'm just... Scared I guess."

Liu ran his hand through her hair calmingly. His fingers twirled and unfurled in her autumn curls. He knew it was something she loved, always relaxing to her.

"I promised to you Hazel that everything would be okay. I'm here for you know matter what. If you ever find yourself in a rut, you can always come to me. I'll always be able to help you."

She pulled back from him, a faint smile paired with watering eyes. She gripped him back into a hug, holding him close like a security blanket.

"You truly are the best Liu. I-"

Hazel paused, a slow clapping sound nearing them. She stumbled back off of Liu, terror in her eyes.

"What... What is that?"

Liu turned around, a man with long singed hair and leathery skin close to them. A man that made his knees weak and his stomach drop.

"Well wasn't that so dear and sentimental. I didn't know killers could love. I surely couldn't." The sentence was followed by an eerie laugh.

"Hazel, please leave! Now! I don't care what you hear or what you see, just run", Liu shouted at her.

The tears that glistened in her starry eyes now fell. She looked so confused and afraid, no doubt working up Jeffrey.

"But I can't just leave you, what if-"

"Now Hazel! Go! You are more in danger than I am."

Truly she was. Jeffrey hadn't killed him for this long, what difference did it make now? Hazel on the other hand was a different story. Luckily she listened, her rushed foot falls growing fainter by the second.

"Oh, did I ruin something? Oh well... Not my problem! Though, she would of made a beautiful edition to the body pile, don't you think?"

Liu stared at his brother, a rush of adrenaline and anger pumping through him.

"I don't know what you want Jeffrey, but why don't you leave me and her out of it!"

Jeffrey sauntered over, playing with a stained knife in his hands. His smile was wider than Liu remembered, but maybe it was the addition of Jeffrey voluntarily smiling.

Jeffrey pointed the tip  of the knife on Liu's neck, receiving no more than a shudder.  Slowly the knife lifted up, pulling his chin up with it.

"It's good to see my chew toy is ready for use again."
