Draco's POV
Relieved I went outside the transfiguration classroom. Transfiguration was always hard, because McGonagall was nearly as partisan as Snape. Especially the lesson today was boring. But we were all very exciting. The news about the Triwizard Tournament was just beginning to feel normal, when Potter was chosen as the fourth champion. Always Potter. I couldn't believe it. I was deep in my thoughts when suddenly Crabbe hit me. I looked up, puzzled. "Look, that Granger-girl. What she's up to?" he asked. I recognized Hermione in the crowd. Wait, was she- "Why is she running towards you?" Goyle asked. Damn it, he was right. Hermione was crying. My brain worked hard to come up with a reason why she was here. The truth was right there, and I couldn't deny it longer. She was here because of me. But why? My brain worked quickly. She was very clever and acted normally not that risky to meet me up in public. So it has to be something big which got her here now. But how could I meet her and help her without showing our friendship?
"Yeah, no idea." I answered. "Maybe she only got 90% in her last homework." Crabbe and Goyle laughed. Hermione was almost there. "Hey, Granger, what's the matter?" I asked her. She looked at me and I could see in her eyes that she realized what she was up to. "Nothing you should care about." was her answer. "Yeah totally. You should see your face. Tears all over it. Maybe you should to the second floor. I heart that there's something that could cheer you up." I hoped that she would understand that I was talking about 'our' empty classroom and that Crabbe and Goyle wouldn't see this hint. Stupid enough were them I thought. Hermione snuffled: "Yeah sure, if you say so." And with these words she hurried away. Crabbe laughed and went towards the Great Hall. I excused myself and hurried to the second floor. As I thought Hermione was already there. The moment she saw me she flew into my arms and and started to cry. I felt helpless as I never felt in my whole life. "Hey, what's the matter?" I asked again. "It's ... It's Harry!" she sobbed. "It's so dangerous, this tournament and he's a champion now! Ron's not speaking with him anymore and I'm so scared that our friendship is over or that Harry will die. Somebody wants Harry to be dead!" I closed my eyes and hold her a bit closer. I disclaimed to tell her that there were a few people who wanted Potter to be dead, in the first row Voldemort or my lovely aunt. But of course it was Potter she was worried about. Surely, his nerves were all on edge, and also Hermione's. "Shh, he'll be alright." I said. "Potter's too strong to loose this. He fought worse things than that." I knew I was right. He was just 14 and accomplished more than anybody else. More than anyone else would ever accomplish in his whole life. However, Hermione didn't stop crying for a few more minutes. But then she walked a few steps back and dried her face. "You're right." she said. "He can do that. I will help him and Ron..." she realized that Ron wasn't talking to Harry anymore. "Weasley will speak with you both again." I said. "You're his best friends." I realized she wasn't that horrified anymore. So I smiled. "However, I bet Potter will be last in the tasks!" Hermione gasped. "No way! Harry will be the winner!" "Haha, never! Not with Diggory and Krum. Want to bet?" I asked with a smile. "Sure! Harry will win the Tournament!" she answered directly. "Okay, I say it will be Krum. I talked to him this summer, he's genius! Okay, and the loser has to..." I thought loudly. "Has to buy the other one an dinner with everything!" Hermione finished my sentence. "Okay that's fair." I said. We shook our hands. "So it's on!" I said, happy that she could smile again.
