"Lets blow this Popsicle stand, losers!" Jene shouted before taking out about four jumbo pixies with a the gun that fit into a quarter she had stolen from the armoury. Artemis skidded a corner with more jumbo pixies behind him, and I threw him a softnose I picked up from one. He turned and shot and managed to hit one in the shoulder.
"Good job, Arty boy! Now go, go, go!"
Butler scooped up Artemis and Holly and headed down the next hallway while Liz, Jene, and I attempted to keep the Jumbo pixies at bay. Before we could shoot, though, a voice stopped the pixies, and us, in our tracks. A very familiar voice...
"Sanies," Liz spat out the blood in her mouth as he descended from the ceiling, draped in a regal outfit with a long train and high collar, somehow making him look more short than ever.
"Liz," He said with a self-satisfied smirk. "You've walked right into my trap."
"What trap?" I asked, strolling around him and his gigantic train. "You laid no trap. Opal was the real mastermind with her capturing of Holly and Butler."
"And it was I who laid the plans to capture you."
"How so? We were doing just fine."
"Artemis gave you up!" He snarled. "He have you up the minute you were tied to that chair. What, did you manage to evade him?"
I shook my head. "We played you, Sanies. You should know that before you die."
"And who's going to kill me? You? Liz?"
"I'm right here," Jene said with an impatient wave.
"The little artist, the bipolar, and the obnoxious. I should have known. I knew that stupid Abigail Rush garbage couldn't have killed you."
I snorted. "Are you kidding me? Did you read the book? She sucked, dude. She really did. She wasn't even that dangerous- all she did was lock us up, monologue, and run away while I used a frickin' iPhone to track her location. In retrospect, it's hilariously stupid."
Liz gave me a look.
"What? I'm serious. That book was weird."
"I wrote stuff in there."
"I wrote in it too. Your chapters were amazing. Mine were just weird."
"ENOUGH!" Sanies shrieked, and cast off his strange outfit to reveal another outfit underneath, this one all black, with the seams lined with white. "All of you will be silent! You will obey your mistress Opal from now on!"
A black jet of lightning spurted from his fingertips and hit Liz squarely in the chest. She toppled over and I rushed to her side.
"LIZ!" I shouted over his laughter. Then I turned to him, willed up all my strength, and pointed my palm at him. He took one look and burst into laughter again.
"What are you going to do?" He asked between breaths. "Hit me?"
"No, you moron," I growled. "You just wait."
In my head, I willed the thing I was thinking of to become something cool, but lethal, keeping my palm pointed at Sanies.
"Are you going to hit me with your lasers?"
I grinned. "Actually, I've got a cool sword that looks awesome and I found it in the LEP armoury. If you'd look behind you, you'd see it flying straight for your head."
"Wha-"
But the rest of the sentence was cut off by my sword clipping him on the back of the head as it morphed into a Nutrino 3000. I caught it and went over to him, now lying on the ground and moaning.
