Aleks POV:

I crawled into bed, shivering from the cold as I stayed up editing a video that probably wouldn’t go up for another few days.

I leaned over to turn the lamp off, but then glanced down at the nightstand and saw my phone lying there.

I grabbed it and propped my pillows up. I slid open the lock and went to call Eddie. I had to talk to him—no matter how much he hurt me I had to know how he was.

He picked up on the second ring.

“Mmm, hello?” he murmured into the phone. He must’ve been about to fall asleep from how his voice sounded.

“Hey, Eddie. Sorry for calling so late,” I replied, smiling. I remember how groggy he sounded whenever we’d go to sleep.

“Oh, hi Aleks. It’s no big deal. So how was…today?”

“Fine. Nice to talk with James and Seamus,” I replied, thinking about how odd this situation was. Here he was asking me about how my day was at the Creature House when he had sent me here.

“Right. So, uh…you going to bed?”

“Yeah. I just wanted to hear your voice.”

I instantly blushed after saying that. I hadn’t meant to sound that helpless to him. I wanted him to believe I was strong.

“Oh. That’s fine,” he responded, and I could hear his smile as he spoke, “I wanted to hear you, too.”

I blushed again and laughed lightly.

“I love you, Aleks, no matter what happens. I’m just so sorry…”

“P-please—don’t. Don’t bring up that…just talk like nothing has happened.”

“Right. That sounds better, actually,” he said.

Silence wore on between us, and right when I was about to end the call, Eddie spoke again.

“I miss you.”

I sucked in a deep breath. “I miss you too, Eddie. I miss you so much.”

I began to sob, and I tried to cover it as nothing, but Eddie caught on.

“Don’t cry, Aleks, or I’ll be forced to come over there right now and take you home with me.”

“Why don’t you?” I asked, sobbing heavily now.

“You know I can’t do that.”

I sobbed into the phone again.

“Stay strong for me, Aleks. We’ll be reunited soon enough. Let me just figure things out.”

“P-please…come and see me,” I said again.

There was a long pause and he sighed.

“I’ll be over in ten minutes.”

I gasped as the phone went dead on the other end, and I quickly put my phone down and jumped out of bed.

I ran to my closet and pulled out a sweatshirt that I had secretly taken with me. It was a custom-made Hippo sweatshirt that belonged to Eddie—but I had had to have it. He wore it so often around the house that I had needed it to come with me.

I rushed down the stairs quietly, trying not to wake James or Seamus who I was sure were both asleep.

I glanced out the window and waited anxiously for his arrival.

Just then, as my heart beat harshly within my rib cage, I saw him pull into the drive-way.

My heart pounded hard now. I watched as he stepped out of the car, glancing at the house.

I ran out the front door, bare-footed.

He smiled as I ran down the path towards him and jumped into his arms.

I snuggled into his chest, smelling the musky scent of the man I loved. My arms were wrapped fiercely around him, my hands kneading into him, wanting to be so close to him so that our hearts beat side-by-side.

He wrapped his arms plainly around me, though I felt the urgency in his grasp that matched my own.

I pressed into his chest and he laid his chin atop my head.

“I love you, Aleks…too much for my own good.”

“Don’t say that,” I sighed into him, enjoying his presence. “It’s for both of our good.”

“I know. It hurts, though,” he laughed lightly.

How do you think I feel? I thought.

“Can we just stay like this forever?” I asked, finally looking up into his eyes.

“Not yet. But soon,” he replied.

“How long?”

“Soon,” he replied, and crushed his lips down against mine.

I gasped into the kiss, my heart aching and oozing out the love I felt for him.

He slid his tongue slyly into my mouth and wrestled with mine, all the while causing my cheeks to turn bright pink.

I suddenly felt something wet against my face and I opened my eyes to see tears streaming down Eddie’s cheeks.

I pulled away from the kiss and wiped away the tears with my finger.

“Eddie?” I asked.

“I love you, Aleks. My actions these past few weeks have been terrible to you. I promise I’ll get through this and we’ll go back to normal, okay? I will not let this last. I love you, Aleks. I love you beyond anything else in this world.”

I smiled and pulled him close to me again.

“I’ll be waiting.”

This will be the last chapter for this week, unfortunately. I'm going up to Chicago for the next two days and won't be back until Saturday. Possibly then I'll upload...but ONLY if I get some major commenting on this chapter. This was easily a hard chapter to write.

And also, I'll be doing Scmanex for the 50 followers goal that I reached a few days ago! I haven't started writing it, but I know the basis of it. It'll be posted over on my Tumblr account since it is a oneshot. I hope you're excited for that.
