Under the Mistletoe

Tony was pinning up a bit of mistletoe in one of the doorways in Gibbs' house during a Holiday party. It was the sixth one he had put up so far. He was trying to put one in every doorway of Gibbs' house. His girlfriend Ziva was at the party and he had the idea that he was going to try and kiss her every time she walked through a doorway. He was even hanging some mistletoe on a few closets. "What are you doing DiNozzo?" came a voice from behind him. Tony jumped hitting his head on the doorway. He turned around quickly. "Hey boss. I-I was putting up uh-uh...mistletoe. He stuttered. Gibbs stood there staring at him. "Up...there." Tony said pointing up at the mistletoe. "Why DiNozzo?" Gibbs asked in his usual tone. "For...for Ziva." Tony told him blushing slightly. Gibbs chuckled. This was the first holiday season that Tony and Ziva had been a couple. They had gotten together a few months ago officially a few months ago and Gibbs liked to see them together. Especially at such a sweet time in their relationship. Not that this version of Tony and Ziva was very different from the Tony and Ziva he knew from before all the flirting and the jokes and all the normal Tony/Ziva things. Except this time they were officially together and not hiding their love as they had done for years. Gibbs loved it. Even though he created rule number twelve he was secretly always rooting for them to break it. "Okay DiNozzo good luck with that. Little tip: You're supposed to hang the mistletoe in the middle of the doorway. Not the side" he said pointing up at the mistletoe. Tony looked up at the mistletoe hanging on the side of the door frame not completely hung up yet. "Right,sure boss. Right." Tony said nodding his head and leaning back intending to lean against the doorway. He missed and almost fell over as he leaned back into the open space of the doorway instead of the wall.

            Ziva walked down the stairs and saw Tony and Gibbs talking in the doorway. Ziva smiled a small smile as she looked at Tony. Tony saw her too and smiled back. Gibbs' leaned in to whisper in Tony's ear. "Good luck." He told him, chuckling as he walked away. "What are you doing Tony?" Ziva asked giving Tony a small flirty smirk. "Nothing. Just standing under some mistletoe here." Tony said pointing up at it and wriggling his eyebrows at Ziva. "What is a mistletoe?" Ziva asked. Tony smirked at her. "Well...you see it's a little thing that you hang in a doorway and when two people are under the same doorway..." Tony took Ziva's shoulders and guided her so she was standing underneath the doorway with him. "Like this...then they have to kiss each other." He said obviously trying to hold in a smile. "So...you stand under a...plant. And I am supposed to reward you...with a kiss?" Ziva said confused. "Hey its hard to put these up! It takes a long time! I think I deserve a reward! " Tony exclaimed. Ziva laughed. "Well I bet that was so hard for you Tony." She told him. "It was." Tony said nodding his head and poking out his bottom lip giving her the perfect puppy dog begging face. Ziva laughed and leaned in to give Tony a quick peck on the lips. "Thank you." Tony said nodding his head. "I am guessing this is going to happen a lot more tonight since I have seen these little plants on every doorway and closet in this house yes?" She smirked. "Maybe" Tony said hiding a smile.

Tony was standing in the corner of one of the doorways of Gibbs house during Gibbs' annual Holiday party. He was looking over at his fiance Ziva. She was deep in conversation with McGee about who knows what but she seemed to be very passionate about it since she was waving her hands all around and her lips were moving at the speed of light. McGee seemed just as passionate in return about whatever it was obviously intensely listening and occasionally responding with just as much animation as Ziva. He was looking at her and trying to scheme about how exactly he was going to get her under one of the many doorways in this house to kiss her again for the third time tonight. He had hung mistletoe in every doorway of the house as he did every year. "Plotting again?" Gibbs asked from behind Tony. "Maybe" Tony said sheepishly turning around to face Gibbs. "Want me to go get McGee and lead him away from Ziva?" Gibbs asked Tony smirking. "Could you?" Tony asked. " Or maybe lead Ziva over here?" Tony blushed. "Okay DiNozzo." Gibbs said laughing going over to Ziva and McGee. "I don't know where you get all this mistletoe every year." Gibbs mumbled as he walked off. "Neither does Ziva Boss." Tony called after him.

"Mistletoe all hung DiNozzo?" Gibbs asked. "Yup" Tony answered. "Middle of the doorway?" He asked. Tony nodded his head. "How are you gonna do it this year?" He asked Tony smirking. "You're good at helping out..." Tony said rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet. Gibbs looked off to the side. "Looks like you won't need any help this year DiNozzo." Gibbs said whispering. Tony furrowed his brow, confused. Gibbs jerked his head towards Ziva who had just entered the room. He then walked out of the room to give them some privacy. "So how many times are we going to kiss tonight Tony?" Ziva asked. "That's up to you Zee-vah." Tony said to her using his special pronunciation "I have an idea." Ziva said looking right at her husband's lips. "What?" Tony asked. "We could go around to all the mistletoe right now instead of spacing it out like we usually do." Ziva told him. "Hey! I'm supposed to think of the ideas!" Tony said pouting. "Okay fine Tony if you do not want to." Ziva teased pretending to start walking away. "No no that's a good idea that's a good idea." Tony said pulling her back and bringing his lips to hers.

"You need me to be your wingman with your wife again DiNozzo?" Gibbs asked chuckling standing beside Tony. "I've got my own little wingwoman now Boss." Tony said. "Oh she's taking my place now is she?" Gibbs said chuckling and looking down at the baby in Tony's arms. "Sorry boss she's just cuter than you." Tony told him shrugging his shoulders. "Not possible" Gibbs said with a straight face. "Now I must start my quest to find Ziva!" Tony said sticking his head up in the air and stomping quickly away. Gibbs chuckled as he watched him walk away.

Tony walked up behind Ziva while she was having a conversation with Senior. "Zeeeeevaaah" Tony said from behind Ziva dragging her name out. Ziva laughed and shook her head before turning around. "Yes Tony?" She asked. "There's a doorway calling our names and I think someone wants a kiss." Tony told her. "Oh I know who that is" Ziva said leaning down and kissing their daughter on the forehead. She looked up at Tony who was giving her a little fake pout. "Oh you were not talking about Tali?" Ziva asked feigning confusion. "She did but now the other cuteness wants a kiss. Follow me to the doorway Miss Ziva." He said starting to walk backwards towards the doorway in the side of the living room in Gibbs house. Ziva stood there not moving until Tony said "Come on follow The Cuteness." Tony said holding Tali slightly higher as if he meant to tempt Ziva to follow him. "Not The Cuteness!" Ziva said throwing her hands up in the air and starting to follow Tony towards the doorway.

December 24 2020

Tony was sitting at the table with his daughter after just having finished breakfast. He waited for Ziva to leave the room before asking his daughter "You wanna help me set up the mistletoe at Grandpa's house tonight Tali?" Tony asked his daughter. "Toe!" Tali said clapping her hands together. "Exactly Tals exactly" Tony said before leaning in and tickling tickling Tali's stomach. Tali giggled. Just then Ziva walked back in. She smiled at her daughter's giggle. "What are you guys talking about?" She asked. "Oh nothing." Tony said smiling at her. "Toe!" Tali exclaimed bouncing up and down in her highchair
"Shhh!" Tony said to his daughter half giggling.

Tony was holding Tali on his hip while as always standing in the doorway. He was watching Ziva as she was serving herself some food. "DiNozzo do you have a mistletoe tree in your backyard or something?" Gibbs asked laughing. "Mistletoe is actually a fungus Boss it kills trees...so no. But I have a connection that Senior set me up with." Tony told him. Gibbs nodded. "So what's your plan tonight? Using your new wingwoman again?" Gibbs asked. "Of course. Watch and learn boss watch and learn." He put the toddler on the ground and said "Tali go get Ima!" He told her pointing towards Ziva. "Ima!" Tali shouted. "Yeah! Go to Ima!" Tony said. Tali toddled over to Ziva. "Ima!" She said holding her hands out and opening and closing them trying to get her mother to pick her up. Ziva turned around "Tali! What are you doing baby?" She said reaching down and picking her up. She looked at the doorway to see Tony waving at her from the doorway. "Toe!" Tali shouted. Ziva looked down at her daughter and then back at Tony. "Very clever." She said walking towards him. "Are you going to use The Cuteness every year now?" Ziva asked Tony cocking her head to one side. "Hey if it works it works." Tony told her shrugging his shoulders. Ziva shook her head and leaned in to give Tony a kiss.
