Astrid's P.O.V
Once we got inside we took Hiccup upstairs and put him gently on his bed after Stoick and Valka got some thick blankets and laid them down on the bed so the wooden base of the bed wouldn't hurt the deep cuts on his back.

Just as we put him on the bed, Snotlowt walked in with Gothi hobbling along behind him. Once she saw Hiccup she gasped a muted gasp and rushed over to the side of his bed putting her bag of supplies on the bed as she pulled out some cloth. Stoick got her some water and she began to clean Hiccup's wounds.

I could tell that Hiccup could sill feel the stinging pain every time the wet cloth made contact with his skin because every time it did his face would scrunch up with pain and would flinch. I felt so sorry for him, I would do anything to be in that condition instead of him. Once Gothi finished she started drawing symbols on some sand that was sprawled out on the floor next to her.

"What is she saying?" Snotlowt asked as Gobber went over to read it.

"The good news is that most of the cuts aren't that bored?"

Whack!

"Ahh! Bad sorry, but the one on his hand will leave a noticeable scar and the ones on his back will leave scars but not as bad as his hand." Gobber said, being careful not to mess anything up so he wouldn't get a whack to the head by her staff, Gothi kept writing in the sand.

"What about the bad news?" I asked nervously not really wanting to here it. "Well...." He said as he read the writing in the floor and his face dropped even more than before, if that was even possible. I could tell it made everyone in the room get even more worried.

"He is still very sick, this has just made it worse and he doesn't have much time left." Once he said that my heart skipped a beat.

"But.... She thinks she knows what it is as well as the cure." He said and that gave me a little glimmer of hope.

"She just needs to run some tests to know for sure."

"How long will that take?" I asked

"About half an hour, give or take and we should probably leave and give Gothi some space." He replied

"But......" I started but Stoick cut me off.

"But nothing Astrid. He will be fine lass, I am sure of it." He said as he walked up to me and put a hand on my shoulder with a kind smile on his face , that made me relax a bit since I was still a bit tense.

"Maybe you should go and comfort Toothless." Stoick said as he looked out the open door and down to where Toothless was laying by the fire pit with a very concerned and sad look on his face.

I nodded as I stated to walk down the stairs to Toothless and sat down next to him and started to stroke his head.

"Don't be sad Toothless, he will be okay." I said, Snotlowt came down and sat on the chair across from me, we just sat there in the heat of the fire as I was humming a tune that was in my head.

Hopefully Hiccup will be okay.

Stoick's P.O.V
As Astrid walked down the stairs I turn around to face my wife, she smiled sadly at me and I wouldn't blame her, I mean she just got back and her son is on the edge of dying. I smile back and pull her in for a huge.

"What do you say we go down stairs and talk...... About the last few years." I say looking down at her, she nods and mumbles. "I have a lot to explain, don't I?"

I chuckle and we walk downstairs and into 'our' bedroom.

I go and sit on the the bed and motion for her to come and sit next to me. Once she sat down I asked a question that I have been wanting to ask all afternoon. "So.... What happened to you?" She took in a deep breath and began her story. "Well when I was taken........."
