My Everything

Halfway through the night I was finding it hard to get any sleep, so I was flipping and flopping around my bed trying to get in a comfortable position. After I fall off my bed, fighting to untangle myself from my sheets, as quietly as I could I make my way down the stairs and into the fridge in the kitchen that I knew holds my delicious ice cream. Once I had grabbed the wonderful creation that was chocolate fudge ice cream, I pull out a chair from the table and mumbled 'my precious' before grabbing a spoonful and allowing myself to indulge in it. I guess that I was too caught up in my thoughts that I hadn't heard the other chair that was scraping noisily across the ground from being pulled out so roughly.

"Are you going to tell me what it was that Libby saw?" Alex asks making me jump out of my seat, squeaking in surprise when I hear his voice.

"Jesus Christ, what is it with you people and scaring me like that?" I gasp clutching the spoon in my hand as tightly as possible.

"Sorry to disappoint you, but it's only me." He smiles sarcastically ignoring the glare that I was sending him.

After a minute the smirk disappears from his face as he continues watching me expectantly, while I was contemplating on even telling him. My silence must have been answer enough for Mr. Impatient while I was digging my spoon into the ice cream repeatedly as hard as I can, he sighs in frustration. Looking at him through the corner of my eyes I can see that he's about to do or say something to make me tell him what she saw, but before he has a chance to try anything the words blurt themselves out of my mouth. I know him well enough to know that he won't actually physically hurt me, but sometimes I would rather that he did that instead of the emotional trauma that I usually seem to be left with whenever he was in these types of moods.

While I was telling him what Libby saw at one point I saw him visibly cringe as if he was remembering the events as I was telling him. In an attempt to hide his emotions from me, he steals the spoon from my hand and started eating my ice cream. If this was any other type of situation I probably would have nabbed him for it but again I knew him well enough to know that it was keeping him busy while I continued explaining what happened.

"She didn't mean to go into your past, but whatever the picture was that you dropped on the stairs she went to return it to you. But her mutation kicked in before she got the chance to, please don't be mad at her." I plead. He glances up and watches my expression, thankfully for only a moment before he decides to believe me.

Even though we're obviously not as close as we use to be it doesn't mean that I have to stop telling him the truth, because that's how our friendship first began and I'm hoping that that's how it's going to be again.

"That's fine." He whispers quietly. "There's just some things in my past that I know would scare her more than that did and I don't want her to be scared of me because she saw them."

"I know, and so far I've been with her every time that she's gone into the past and she hasn't seen anything bad yet so your secrets are safe." I reply. This is weird though. I have never in my life seen him like this... So gentle... About anything, and that's saying something because he us to treat me like a fricken china doll!

"Besides that's one of the lesser memories that I don't really care about too much." He says shrugging his shoulders acting like what I had just finished telling him meant nothing. It breaks my heart that he was saying that, but I guess that neither of us are the same people that we were in the past.

"You guys will have to be patient with her. She's only use to it just being her and I." I mumble quickly trying to hide the fact that I was hurt by his words.
