Chapter 9: Scan

- 10 Weeks Pregnant -

The next three weeks seemed to fly by. Justin had kept his distance since our almost kiss and I didn't totally mind. We had finally told his mom.

As much as she didn't love that we were having a baby, she wasn't mad either. She had Justin when she was a teen to, so she really couldn't judge us. We were younger, but we had really talked about it and decided this was what we wanted.

From there we had told the necessary people on his crew. Scooter, for example. He had to know so that Justin would be able to get away and not get in trouble.

And his recording team, bodyguards, drivers, and management. The rest of the crew and team were still in the dark about our kid.

Once I reached week 9 I had also noticed a lot of back pain. When we called a doctor, they said it was normal and that I should expect some tenderness in the breasts soon too. That came week 10.

Now I was just a tired, sore, pregnant teenager who slept more than ever before. And everything was going amazingly well.

Until now.

I woke up with cramps. It wasn't bad enough that I couldn't walk, but it felt like bad period cramps. Through my closed bedroom door, I could hear my mom and Justin talking. About what, I never knew.

So I pushed myself up and groaned. The cramps suddenly got worse. My legs felt a little wobbly and my back was killing me. As I climbed out of the bed I noticed my sorts felt a little wet.

I turned to look at my sheets and quickly pressed my hand to my stomach.

"Mom!" I shouted, "Mom!" My voice was breaking and I knew I was going to start crying.

I heard them coming down the hall and then my door opened, "What's wrong?"

I looked at both of them and sobbed, "I'm bleeding."

I was admitted to the hospital and immediately they began running tests. The doctor found a heartbeat right away, so then the concern turned to my health.

I had never seen so many doctors in my life than I did today, so many people were coming into my room to ask questions and make sure I was comfortable.

The IV they had out in had helped with cramps, but I was still sore.

"Serrina McNielson, right?" My main Doctor smiled at me as he walked into the room. Justin and my mom sat up straighter and I tried to push myself up, unsuccessfully.

"We have your blood panel back now, and we do have a few concerns so we will be running a few more tests before we come to a solid conclusion," Then he turned to my mom, "You're not working right now so don't try to take her charts, understand?"

I smiled at my mom, "Mom, you're not a nurse right now."

"Fine, Mom mode on, Nurse mode off." She crossed her arms. I knew she wanted to know my results, but I didn't want her to know before me.

"I'll be back in a few minutes with an ultrasound machine to make sure everything looks good then we can talk about these results," He flicked the folder in his hand, "Okay?"

We all nodded and he proceeded to leave.

"How are you feeling now?" Justin asked from beside me.

I shrugged and placed my hands over my belly. I was now barely starting to show, so I had started touching it even more than before.

"Are you still cramping?" My mom asked, "Asking as your mom."

I nodded, "A little yeah."

"Some is okay. Your uterus is stretching now so you'll probably feel cramps for a while."

"I read that somewhere," I turned to Justin and smiled.

"You're doing baby research?"

He shrugged and the room door opened again. The doctor rolled a machine in and parked it beside my bed.

"Okay, so this is the big ultrasound machine. We used a portable one on you when you came in." He started turning things on and grabbed a clear tube of blue gel, "Lift your shirt." I did as he asked and tucked it under my bra wires, "This machine will show us inside your abdomen and hopefully we can catch a glimpse of your baby today."

"Can you guess the gender yet?" I smiled at Justin as he leaned in over my feet towpath the screen.

"I could try but it won't be accurate until about 16 to 18 weeks." Justin frowned and the doctor continued to squeeze the blue gel onto my skin, "You will also be able to hear the heartbeat. We ready?"

I nodded and the doctor tapped the wand thing to my belly. The room was filled with an echoing whooshing sound and I saw my moms face light up.

"That's the heart beat," the doctor said and then pointed at the screen, "If you look here you can actually see the heart beating."

I stared at the part of the screen he was pointing at and instantly felt so overwhelmed. There was a small fluttering on the screen.

My baby's heart. It was beating strong.

Then the doctor sighed and pressed the wand into my belly a little more, "Will you want pictures?"

"Yes," my mom cut in, "4 please."

He nodded and pressed a button on the monitor that made the screen pause. The machine made a clunking sound and started printing out pictures.

"Now I wanted to talk to you about the bleeding."

My head was quickly pulled out of the clouds.

"Your baby is completely healthy and I know why you had started to bleed."

"Well what is it?" My mom cut in.

He took a deep breath and crossed his arms, dropping his eye contact with me

My chest tightened and I was now terrified.
