Kazumi’s P.O.V

“Man I really hate paperwork, it’s so boring,” I complained. Rukia, who was helping me with the paperwork, looked at me and laughed. I turned my gaze away from the paper in front of me to Rukia. “It’s not funny,” I said. Rukia stopped laughing and smiled at me.

“Sorry, Kazumi, it’s just funny. You seem to get bored a lot,” said Rukia. I set my pen down and leaned back in my chair, putting my hands behind my head.

“I guess you can say it’s hard to keep my attention,” I said, laughing slightly. I stopped laughing though when I remembered the way Rukia was staring at Gin this morning. I looked over at Rukia, who was filling the paperwork, and observed her. “Hey, Rukia, can I ask you something?” I asked her. Rukia stopped writing and looked up at me.

“Sure, you can ask me anything” said Rukia.

“This morning I noticed something. The way you were looking at Gin. It was like you couldn’t stand to be in his presence, why?” I asked. Rukia looked away for a second, and then looked back at me with a serious look.

“Honestly I don’t trust him and ever since I’ve met Gin, I was always afraid of him. It’s like he’s a snake and like he always has his hands around my throat. His presence is intimidating. He knows how to get under my skin, make me feel hopeless, but at the same time he makes me hope, makes me strong and then he ends up shattering all of it, like it’s a game he likes to play. He knows how to play with people’s heads. I know that Gin is your friend, Kazumi, but there’s something about him that tells me not to trust him, to stay away from him and to run from him when I’m around him,” explained Rukia. I couldn’t help but smile a little.

‘Rukia's assumptions about Gin are head on. He isn’t someone that you should trust,’ I thought. “I understand, Rukia” I said. Rukia’s eyes opened in shock.

“Yo-you do?” asked Rukia. I make eye contact with her, laughing a little.

“Yeah I do.I mean Gin is an intimidating fellow and he does give off that vibe of mistrust. So I understand” I said.

“Well…thanks. I thought you were going to be offended with me saying all that about him. Since he’s your friend and all,” said Rukia. I stopped laughing.

“Rukia, even though Gin and I are friends, it doesn’t mean I would get mad at you for insulting him. I mean everyone has their own opinions, their own feelings. I can’t change that and I can’t make you feel a certain way. Sure I usually hate it when people judge people for who they are on the outside, when they don’t even give the person a chance to see who they are on the inside. Because sometimes the person is completely different from whom they are on the outside than on the inside. But it seems like you’ve made your mind up about Gin and like I said I can’t make you feel a certain way. So I can’t and don’t have the place to be mad about how you feel,” I said. A big smile formed on Rukia’s face.

“Thank you for understanding, Zumi” said Rukia. I nodded my head and put my attention back on to my paperwork. “Um….Zumi…shouldn’t you be heading towards the bar? It’s almost 10:00,” asked Rukia. I looked over at the clock and shot up from my chair quickly. It’s 9:30.

“Crap. Thanks, Rukia” I said as I ran out of my office and towards my room. Once I got there I freshened myself up before heading out. After I was done I quickly flash stepped towards the bar since I was already going to be later. Once I got there I walked in and looked around for everyone.

“Kazumi, over here” someone called. I looked towards the voice and approached everyone sitting at the table.
