Kazumi’s P.O.V

I groaned loudly. I hate paperwork. I wish I never had to do it, but I have to its part of the job. “My, my, don’t you look bored” a familiar voice said, laughing. I slowly lifted my head.

“Good afternoon, Gin” I said. I really didn’t feel like being bugged. I didn't get much sleep last night, which put me in a crabby mood.

“You forgot, didn’t you?” Gin asked as he walked over to my desk. I put the end of my pen in my mouth, thinking. Gin laughed. “We’re supposed to have lunch today” he said.

“Oh yeah that’s today isn’t it” I said, slightly laughing. Gin smiled that creepy smile of his and shook his head back and forth.

“Sometimes I worry about you, Kazumi” said Gin.

“And what’s that suppose to mean?” I asked.

“Oh nothing, Kazumi, So are you ready to go?” asked Gin. I sighed lowly.

“Yeah I’m ready” I said. I set down my pen and stood up. Just as I was about to walk out the door with Gin, Rukia walked in.

“Are you leaving, Zumi?” Rukia asked as she looked back and forth between Gin and me.

“Yeah I’m just going to lunch with Gin. I’ll be back afterwards” I said.

“Well head Captain Yamamoto said that whenever you have time that he need to see you” said Rukia. I gave her a questionable look.

“Did he say what for?” I asked. Rukia shook her head no.

“No he didn’t” she said.

“Okay well I guess after lunch I’ll see what he wants and then I’ll be back” I said.

“Okay that’s fine” said Rukia. Rukia stepped aside as Gin and I walked out of my office.

-FF to restaurant-

“Rukia doesn’t like me, does she?” Gin asked as we took our seats. The waitress came over and took our drink orders. I sighed and looked over at Gin.

“Honestly, no she doesn’t” I said once the waitress was gone. Gin smiled.

“I kind of figures she didn’t” said Gin. I chuckled.

“Well you can’t blame her. You do have a creepy smile and it doesn’t help the vibe that you give off and the way you keep your eyes in slits” I said. Gin frowned.

“That’s not a very nice thing to say, Kazumi” said Gin.

“Well it’s true. I mean I didn’t like you at first either” I said.

“Yeah I know you didn’t. You always called me a creeper” said Gin. We both laughed. The waitress came back, gave us our drinks, and took our orders. “What changed? I mean why did you change your mind about me?” Gin asked seriously. I closed my eyes and rested my head on my hand.

“Shinji always said don’t judge a book by its cover. I didn’t know what he met at first, but when I grew up and matured I finally figured out what he met. So I decided to give you a change and learn to judge you for who you are as a person and not who you are by your appearance” I explained. I opened my eyes and made eye contact with Gin. He was smiling, a real smile; teeth and all. “I really wish you wouldn’t hide those eyes of yours” I said. Gin chuckled.

“You know I don’t like my eyes” he said. I rolled my eyes.

“I don’t see why. You have some pretty blue eyes” I said. Gin looked at me seriously.

“Here are your orders” the waitress said as she walked over to our table and set our drinks in front of us.

“Thank you” I said, smiling at the girl. The girl slightly bowed and walked away. Gin and I ate our lunches with very little to say. I kept observing him however. I noticed something off about him, like he was hiding something or holding something back.

“By the way the party tomorrow starts around 8p.m” said Gin, breaking the silence. I finished chewing my food and swallowed.

“Where is it going to be at again?” I asked.

“Well captain Kuchiki said that he didn’t mind if we had it at his manor” he said.

“Really, that’s surprising” I said, taking another bite of my food.

-10 minutes later-

Gin finished paying the waitress for our lunches as I stepped outside and got some fresh air. “Kazumi, what are you going here?” a familiar voice asked. I opened my eyes and looked over to my right.

“I was just having lunch with Gin” I said. I noticed Shuhei tense. “What are you four doing here?” I asked Kaname.

“We’ve decided to have lunch as well” said Sajin. I looked over at Sajin and then back at Kaname. Like Gin, Kaname seemed off.

“Hello captain Ichimaru” said Iba. I looked over to my left at Gin who just walked out of the restaurant. He had that creepy smile back on his face.

“Hello” said Gin. I slightly lifted myself off of the wall that I was leaning on and stood up straight.

“Well I’ll be on my way. I’ll see you guys around” I said.

“Kazumi, is something wrong?” Kaname asked as he stepped in front of me causing me to stop walking. I noticed that everyone was staring at me, observing me, waiting for me to say something. I sighed.

“I’m fine, Kaname. Just didn’t get much sleep last night. That’s all” I said. Even though Kaname is blind I could feel the intensity of his stare as he observed me. Moments later Kaname stepped to the side, out of my way.

“Very well” he said. I could tell by the tone of his voice that he didn’t believe me, which met he was going to be asking me what was wrong later. I flash stepped away before anyone else could say or ask me something. I didn’t know what it was, but something in the air felt wrong. I stopped once I got to head Captain Yamamoto’s office. I lifted my hand and knocked.

“Come in” old man Yama called out. I opened the door and walked in. “Ah, Kazumi, I was hoping that you would show up soon” said old man Yama as I walked over to his desk.

“Yeah sorry it took me so long. I was having lunch with Gin” I said. Old man Yama set down his pen and looked up at me.

“That’s okay. I kind of figured that you wouldn’t just rush over here when Rukia told you” he said. I smiled slightly.

“Yeah I know” I said. Old man Yama laughed. “So what did you call me for?” I asked. Yamamoto stopped laughing and looked at me seriously. My blood chilled. It wasn’t like him to be this serious. He’s only like this when the situation calls for it. It made me nervous.

“I’ve noticed something about you” he said. I gave him a questionable look.

“Oh yeah and what would that be?” I asked. Yamamoto didn’t say anything. He just sat there and studied me. It made me more nervous than I was a couple of seconds ago.

“When were you going to tell me that you’re like your brother?” he asked. My body froze. My eyes shot open in surprise. My heartfelt like it stopped and then fell to my stomach.

‘How in the world’ I thought.
