CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Regina

One Month Later...

It has been a great month. Drama free. Robert free. Travis and I were cool again. Everything was just wonderful.

Iva and I were in the bakery, frosting some cakes, when the bell rang.

"Your turn." I told her. She gave me a sly look, and walked to the front. Five seconds later, I heard her yelling my name. I ran to the front to see what she was yelling for.

"What is it?" I asked, and followed her look. I'd seen Erika...with Robert.

"Hey!" Erika exclaimed. I smiled, and looked at Bobby, then back at her.

"Hey! Did you like the pastries?" I asked, nonchalant.

"Yes! They were fabulous!" She said, praisfully. "I wanted to see if you could possibly pick out another selection for me."

"Oh sure!" I told her, smiling. I looked at Robert, who looked confused. "I still remember everything about you. Just go ahead and take a seat, and I'll be back with the pastries."

"Oh. Also, I wanted to see if you would do my boyfriend's also!" She said, pointing to Bobby. "He simply doesn't eat any kind of sweets that I pick up for him, and he is very picky."

"Sure!" I told her. "No problem. I will go ahead and get the other samples so you could try them out."

"Okay. Thank you!" She said. I smiled, and walked to the back with Iva.

"What in the hell is he doing with her?!" She asked. I just shrugged.

"I don't know, but this is very awkward." I told her. "I already know what Robert likes. What do I do?"

"Well, it has been a month. Maybe it's changed. Just act as he is any other customer." She offered. I just shrugged, and grabbed the platter, placing different samples on them.

"Yeah. You're right. And it'll only be awkward if I let it be awkward. I'll just do my job, and they'll be gone. Simple." I said, and she nodded in agreement. I put on a smile, and headed back to the front, to their table. Sitting down across from them, I felt Robert's gaze on me, but I didn't dare meet it.

"Yay! Samples!" Erika exclaimed, picking up the strawberry tart. Dully noted. I smiled, and looked to Robert.

"So." I said. "Tell me about yourself."

"What?" He asked, not believing me.

"Robert, don't be rude." Erika said, still on the strawberry tart.

"Like, what line of work do you do?" I asked, smiling.

"Entrepreneur." He replied, coldly.

"Age?"

"34."

"Are you originally from here?"

"What kind of ridiculous questions are these?" He asked. I just stared, surprised.

"I am so sorry, Regina. I have no clue what has gotten him so upset." Erika apologized.

"It's okay." I replied. "It's not required. Sometimes it just isn't what people are about."

"Yeah, but..." Suddenly, her phone went off. She looked at the screen, and stood up. "Sorry. I need to take this. Be right back. Be nice, Robert." She said, and walked outside.

"Regina, just what do you think you're doing?" Robert asked. I know he would be yelling if we weren't in the bakery.

"My job." I told him. "Do you still only like chocolate chip cookies?" I asked him. He just gave me an evil glare.

"Well, not much has changed in a month." He said.

"For you." I replied.

"Oh yes. And how are you and my dear doctor?" He asked, smugly.

"I'm sorry. Was that a yes on the cookies?" I asked him. He gave me another death glare. "The quicker we do this, Robert. The quicker we could move on."

"It's not that easy dollface."

"It is, and don't call me that please. I'll be right back." I told him. "If she comes back before me, tell her I went to get your pastries to go, okay?" I didn't wait for a response, and just walked back to the back.

"So. How's it going?" Iva asked.

"Rather sucky, but good enough." I told her, grabbing two boxes, and setting their pastries in them. "Just need to give these to them, and all will be over."

"Good luck." She said, as I walked out back to the front. I walked to go back to their table, but stopped when I noticed the site in front of me. Robert and Erika were in a deep kiss. I remember those kisses. They were pretty great. With lots of experience behind them... I knew he was doing this on purpose. How could he? I continued on walking, and stood in front of their table.

"Awe, look at the two love birds!" I exclaimed, and they both turned, and looked at me. Erika looked blown away, while Robert had a smug look on his face.

"Uh, sorry." Erika said, blushing. "You know how men are."

"Yes. I do." I told her, catching Robert's eyes, and smirked. "Well, you two look good enough to eat! When's the wedding date?" I asked.

Robert made a choking sound, and Erika just laughed. I looked confused.

"Oh, honey. We have only been dating for-"

"None of your business." Robert interrupted. Erika gave him an angry look. I was just confused.

"Uh, sorry. Didn't mean to be nosy. You two just looked so beautiful together." I told her.

"Oh, Regina. No, I'm sorry. He's being a little cranky today. I have no idea why." Erika said, glaring at Robert. "I actually wanted to ask you a favor."

"And what would that be?" I asked.

"Well, I am throwing this dinner party on Friday, and we still need a cater." She said. I just looked at her, waiting. "And I was wondering if you would be up to doing it?"

"Well...um..." I didn't really know how to answer her. I looked from her to Robert, and back to her, then away...

"Don't worry about him, sweetie. He will be in a better mood, and you won't have to see him the whole night." Erika said, I guess noticing my hesitant look.

"Oh, it isn't that." I told her. "I'll do it. Well, me and my friend will do it. Iva!" I called. She came running out frantically, covered in flower, and I just laughed.

"What is it?" She asked.

"Miss Erika wants us to cater her dinner party on Friday." I explained to her.

"Really? That'd be great!" She said. I was surprised. I didn't think she would accept so easily.

"Well, it's set then." Erika said, smiling, and handing me a piece of paper. It looked to be Robert's address, and most likely her phone number because it wasn't Robert's. "Now, I've written the address and my phone number down. There will be about seventy to a hundred people tops."

"No problem!" I exclaimed. "See you then!" I told them, and they had left. I didn't miss how Robert had glanced back, before leaving. Iva and I hurried to the back.

"What in the hell was that?!" Iva exclaimed.

"We just got a job!" I yelled.

"WITH a whole bunch of businessy people attending! We will blow this bakery name's up!" Iva exclaimed, and we hi-fived.

"I know!" I agreed.

"So. You don't find it weird that we'll be working in your ex child molestor's home?"

"Well, of course it's weird, but it's business!" I told her. "Im more excited about that. Robert won't make it bad for me. We're done.

"Okay then." She said, and then the bell rang. "Your turn." She said. I just rolled my eyes, and headed out. I wouldn't let Robert ruin this great opportunity for us. It just wasn't going to happen.
