CHAPTER TWENTY- TWO
Regina
I was sitting at home alone, watching the Law & Order marathon. Sad, I know, but it can't be helped. It was a Tuesday. Nothing really to do on a Tuesday. Iva was out with Cloud. He told me he was going to talk to her that night, but didn't. I went ahead and gave him his space, but the second day, Iva hadn't bathed, combed her hair, or even eaten. She was crying in every batter she made at work. I was scared everyone was going to start crying like in the book Like Water For Chocolate. Now that was an awesome book. Movie was pretty cool also. A little. I mean, Pedro had a small pecker. I couldn't even see it.
Back to Iva. I'd called and threatened Cloud, and he called her two seconds after I'd gotten off the phone with him. So tonight, my friend might be a happily engaged young woman. The doorbell going off, had interrupted my thoughts. I got up, heading towards the door. I know it couldn't be her already. It's only been like half an hour. I found it rather dumb that we didn't have a peephole.
"Who is it?" I asked.
"UPS, Regina." I heard Robert say from the other side of the door. I hurriedly opened the door.
"Who the hell else would it be?" He said, sarcasm laced in his voice.
"Robert, what in the hell are you doing here?" I demanded, completely surprised that he'd even show up like this. Well, I really shouldn't be. I mean, it is Robert.
"We need to talk, Regina." He replied. "I'm not leaving until we do."
"I think the police would think differently." I said.
"Do it. I don't give a damn."
"Okay then." I said, calling his bluff. I pulled out my phone, and began dialing the number.
"Regina!" He exclaimed. Yeah right if his ass didn't care. I smirked, and put my phone back in my pocket.
"Go, Robert. We have nothing to talk about."
"Like hell we don't!"
"Five minutes." I told him. I couldn't believe that I was doing this. Iva would be so pissed.
"You're bitchy friend isn't here?" He asked, looking around the house.
"Don't talk about her like that dumb ass. If she was your age, and a man, I would have probably done her in the first three days." I replied, not having any greater comeback.
"Yeah, whatever." He replied.
"Don't have attitude. You came here. Now what do you want?" I asked, sitting on the couch.
"To talk. She must not be a very great friend if she left you home alone like this." He said, following my movements, and sitting close to me. I got up, and sat on the opposite couch.
"I'm a big girl, Robert. Now talk." I demanded.
"Regina, why are you acting as if you don't want anything to do with me? I know you love me." He said, sighing.
"Robert, I used to love you. And we were together for a year. How could I not?" I replied. "But I am over it now. I admit. I did hurt for about a good week, but I am most definitely over it."
"It didn't look that way at the dinner party." He remarked. "You looked pretty... surprised."
"Oh, because I was." I replied. He just arched an eyebrow. "I was surprised because you said you guys had been dating for only three months, yet you marry so soon."
