CHAPTER TWENTY
Travis
"Wow, man. I know you pissed. I bet you feel stupid too." Cloud told me after I told him what had happened.
"Oh. Thanks for the encouragement." I replied sarcastically, rolling my eyes. We were chillin at home, watching the game. Nothing to do, but drink beer, and watch some TV. The girls were at their bakery thing. Man, how I missed Regina. I screwed it up big time.
"Well, you screwed up majorly." He said, as if reading my mind. "Why did you tell her that, man?"
"I don't know. I was caught up in the moment?"
"Which is why she didn't take you seriously." He replied. "Do you even really love her?"
"You know I do. I can't stop thinking about her. Except, I waited too long, and rushed too quickly, and came at the wrong time to tell her how I felt."
"Whoa, dude. What did she do to you? You're sounding pretty whipped right now." He replied.
"And guess what?" I asked. "I really don't care. Plus, I know you ain't talkin. The way you act with Iva...? It should be illegal."
"Oh shut up, man. At least I know that she loves me as much as I love her." He replied, but then realized what he said, and his expression changed from playful, to apologetic. "Man, I'm sorry."
"It's cool. Don't even trip. I know you're right."
"Well, if it's any consolation, you guys deserve each other. Match made in heaven."
"But what if we're not. I mean, look at you and Iva. Going strong for two years." I reminded him. "How can I compete with an older, richer, man?"
"Are you kidding me?! You're almost thirty, and you're filthy stinkin rich!"
"Yeah, but most of that money is because of dad." I reminded him.
"No. It's because of the hard work that you do for him. I can't believe you don't see how valuable you are to him!"
"Valuable? Come on now, Cloud. If anything, you're his favorite."
"You know what? Let's just call it a truce. We got a couple of more commercials until the game starts back on."
"Deal."
"So, what are you going to do about her?"
"Huh? Oh. I have no idea. Probably give her some space to cool down."
"Right."
"Games back on. Shh." I told him. He just gave me an evil glare. I laughed. He was in all honesty, the greatest brother anyone could ever have. as blunt as ever, but he always meant well. That's what made him awesome.
Except, with the whole Regina situation, I had no idea what I was going to do. I should just give her space. I did mess up pretty gigantically. Shit. She probably wouldn't ever talk to me again.
