(a/n 1.5K WHAT IS THIS I FEEL LIKE CRYING)

I was in a room. I dark room. There were no lights, no other people and without being shackled to anything, I was somehow unable to move. I stood there, writhing in discomfort to the best of my ability. Suddenly, a man strode in, dragging Leilani by the hair. My eyes became wide, blood turning ice cold. She was screaming violently, tears flowing. I had no idea why, but the urge to return to my old ways and beat the living crap out of that guy was practically unbearable. And suddenly, it was like there was a glass wall between us. I screamed, I pounded, I kicked; I tried everything to move the wall. To break it. I was practically forced to watch him hurt her. And then it only got worse. Much worse.

----

An ear piercing scream rang out through the house. Adrenaline coursing suddenly, I sat up hastily and ran to the sound. There was only one probable cause of the sound; Leilani. When I reached her, she was slumped against the wall below the living room window. I sat beside her in confusion.

"Eila? What's wrong? What happened?"

She looked over at me with fearful eyes and wrapped her small arms around my torso, hugging my side. I sat mostly still, setting my arm behind her and playing with her hair.
"Eila, what happened?" I repeated.

She sniffled, answering, "He was outside." My body tensed in response as I sucked in a deep breath, which was, combined, an entire new and surprising sensation.

"Do you mean the man that hurt you, Eila?" I uttered softly. She nodded against my chest. I felt my jaw tighten.
"Stay here, sweetheart." I spoke, but she still clinged to me. I sighed. "Eila, you'll be safe, I promise."

She shook her head. "I don't want him to hurt you, Daddy." She looked at me with pleading eyes.

I bit my lip. "I'll just check the window, okay?" Leilani slowly nodded, letting me go. I stood slowly, taking the curtain between my fingers and pulling it away slightly.
The street was basically the same, with my neighbours mowing their lawns and cleaning their cars. But I knew my neighbours, so it wasn't any of them.

And then I saw it. A figure at the end of the street, in a black hoodie and black trousers. As soon as they realised me, they turned and left. I frowned, sitting beside Eila. "I'll keep you safe. I promised, after all." I smiled slightly.

She looked up at me. "Thankyou, daddy."
