-A few months later-
It only takes a few months for everything to change. In these last few months I watched as Rian fell madly in love with Alicia again, I watched as any feeling stronger than friendship for me vanished...almost quicker than they seemed to appear. Yes it hurt but I could have stopped him I could have told him I didn’t want him to go through it, I could have kept him as my own. I sat on the balcony taking another drag of my cigarette as I went over how much of an idiot I was for letting him get away, but then again maybe I needed to do this maybe there was someone better for me out there just waiting.
“I thought you quite,” Jack said sitting down beside me.
“I have,” I responded placing the cigarette between my lips again. I looked over at Jack who was smirking at me the blonde in his hair glinted as the sun peeked through the dark clouds.
“I can’t believe he’s going through with it,” he said after a while. “I mean what idiot lets you go.”
“I forced him and it’s good I did because obviously he still loves her,” I said putting out the smoke and leaning on Jack. “Can’t you just imagine the family portrait...it will be perfect just like out of one of those stupid magazines my mom used to obsess over.”the words were more sarcastic than I had intended them to be and Jack got a real kick out of it.
“Sill if I were him it wouldn't matter I would never let you go...I couldn’t.” I stared at him blankly pulling out another smoke and just as I was about to light it Jack pulled it from my hand. “Why would you throw it all away?”
“It’s a good thing you aren’t him then isn’t it,” I retorque grabbing the smoke back and shoving it into the pack.
“Av,” Jack said quietly.
“Hmm?” I responded turning towards him watching as he slowly began to lean in I filled the space between us colliding our lips together in one fluid motion. I felt myself slowly placing my hands under his shirt and pulling it off of his body he pulled away for a moment so I could slid it off his head then our lips crashed again.
“Hey are you guys home?” I froze at the sound of Rian’s voice it was just like him to ruin a good moment.
“Fuck off,” I mumbled Jack heard me and chuckled. “Out here,” I yelled.
“Hey guys...Jack why are you not wearing a shirt?” Rian asked looking rather confused.
“It’s a bit warm out here don’t you think,” Jack responded quickly focusing on the small box in Rian’s hand that I had noticed the moment he walked over.
“So when are you asking her?” I asked standing up.
“Later today I wanted to ask your opinion on the ring...”Rian said handing me the box. I slowly opened it up staring at the diamond ring it was beautiful. “I really love her...I didn’t know I still felt this way about her before.”
“It’s a nice ring.” I said closing the box and shoving it towards him. “I’m proud of you.” He hugged me quickly not letting go.
“Say the word and I’m yours...”he whispered into my ear.
“Rian I love you. But I love you as my best friend I’m happy when you are happy I’m sad when you are sad and right now I am telling you go marry that girl. Because we both know very well that you love her and it will be better than we ever could have been. Fairytales don’t often exist so take this because it’s as close as you will ever get.” I waited for him to respond but he said nothing.
“Rian I need you to leave.” I said pointing to the door.
“Av.” Rian pleaded.
“Please stop.” I replied and that was it he left. I let him leave. He kept giving me chances to stop him but I was never going to take any of them. It was time I fell in love with someone else.
