I quietly open the door, the cold air hitting my face. I step off of the porch and put an extra change of clothes in a neat pile. I prepare to shift, my wolf racing with excitement. This will be the first time I've shifted since I got here.

In a couple of seconds, I've shifted into my white wolf. I sit down for a couple seconds, just taking in my surroundings. The way the wind blows through the trees, sending the smell of pine wood all throughout the woods. My wolf stands up and I start to walk in the direction of the river. As I get closer I start to wonder if I should turn back. But curiosity gets the best of me, and my wolf starts to trot to the river but she's on alert for some reason.

I stand before the river, looking for a way to cross. I slowly walk over to what looks to be the most shallow part of the river. But even then the most shallow part of the water, still manages to come up to the top of my legs.

Climbing out of the river, I attempt to get most of the water off of me. It works, but I can't help but shiver at how cold it is. The crisp air blowing on me doesn't make it much better...

As I wonder farther into the forest, I start to smell a scent makes my hair stand up. It's another wolf and I must've crossed onto another pack's territory. Why didn't I just listen to Lydia? Maybe I can still get out of here in one piece.

I start backing up slowly, hoping to make it back to the river.

"Don't move." A male's voice says, and my stomach drops when I realize I've heard that voice before, I just can't remember where I've heard it. "If you even try to run I will kill you." The guy threatens, causing me to whimper. The scary thing is is that he can see me, but I have no clue where he is.

"Shift." The voice orders, and if I weren't so scared I would've snorted. Hell no, I will not shift in front of whoever this pervert it. I let out a small whine, and I plop down on the ground. "I said shift," He orders cocking his gun.  "Shift. Or I will shoot you." Suddenly I recognize that voice and the smell.

Dylan.

Maybe it is worth it to run. I actually might rather die than reveal who I am. He can't know that I'm a wolf because if he does then this whole plan will be ruined. My old pack will somehow find out that I am still alive and then God knows what will happen to me or my family.

I realize that I've made my decision when I break off at a dead sprint, running as fast as I possibly can. I fly towards the river, dodging trees and rocks.

My run is short lived as an excruciating pain tears into my shoulder. I yelp in pain, and fall to the ground. I whine in agony as I look to see a bullet wound in my shoulder. But why isn't it healing?

I try to fight shifting, but it's already happened. Before I know it my whimpering had turned to cries. I didn't even care about the fact that I was naked due to the pain in my shoulder. I couldn't describe the pain I was in even if you threw a dictionary at my face. But here I sit, curled up in a ball crying. I'm going to die.

I heard Dylan walking closer to me and I tried to silence my sobs. "You shouldn't have ran." I hear him say. He finally becomes visible and when he sees me his face morphs into a shocked expression. "Alexandra?" He asks, his voice sending shivers up my spine. I try not to sniffle, but I fail miserably. We lock eyes for a couple seconds giving me enough time to see that they're gold instead of blue.

The thrill of the kill.

"You realize this territory belongs to my family and I." He gives his input, which nobody asked for. I keep quiet though, praying for the pain in my shoulder to subside. "I have every right to kill you." I finally look up at him through watery eyes.
