I woke up once during the day, and that was in the morning when I heard some arguing. I was too tired to care and fell asleep again almost instantly. Of course it seemed pretty short lived. Moleck came banging on my door the instant the sun set.

I groaned as the door swung open and banged against the wall. "Up with you Evie!" Moleck said through his laughter.

I sighed and pushed myself up. "Fine." I strapped on my weapons in case of emergencies and stomped up to the deck.

Cooper was already heading toward a rope that needed tying. I was about to stop him when the rope seemingly tied itself. Cooper grumbled something about annoying youngsters and headed for a rope that needed coiling. Again, before I could do anything to stop him, the rope started coiling and was done just before Cooper reached it. He stopped and turned toward the trapdoor that led below decks. "I give up. See you at sunrise Evie!"

I blinked as he opened the door and climbed down.

"He's giving in faster," I looked to my right to see a young assassin standing in the light from one of the lanterns. Her blue eyes glinted and a half smile curled up to the right on her face. Her smile grew when I noticed her. "I used to do that all night and he still wouldn't give up. He gave me quite the workout." She walked over and the edges of her black robes seemed to blur as she left the light. She held out a hand. "I'm Rook, though most of the crew calls me Shadow Assassin."

I took her hand and shook it. "I'm Evie."

Rook let go of my hand and we both looked at each other. Silent and still. She had a thin silver chain around her neck with an anchor pendent that matched the ones that Arno, Archer, and Moleck all had. A pair of swords hung from her belt Kenway style. She almost looked insubstantial in the darkness. There was something vaguely familiar about her as well, even though I knew for certain I'd never seen her before. She looked away and down, a lock of hair pulled loose from her ponytail and hung in front of her face.

I looked at her curiously. "What's wrong?"

"N-nothing," she reached back and pulled her hairband out.

I knew that it wasn't nothing from the way she said it. "Really?"

Rook didn't respond as she fixed her ponytail and looked up, cocky half smile returning. "Yes. I'm fine." There was a moment of silence before she spoke again. "I beat your brother in a sword fight during the afternoon."

"He probably deserved it," I said, shrugging. "If you were up during the day, shouldn't you be sleeping?"

"Nope," Rook smiled. "I don't sleep."

I honestly couldn't tell if she was kidding or not. Moleck shouted from the wheel and Rook gave me one last glance before running off. I watched her go with a twinge of regret. I wanted to know why she was so eager to change the subject when I asked what was wrong.

I looked down at the water and saw the moon reflected on the surface. Only two more days to Great Iguana, then I would need to adjust to being awake during the day again. I enjoyed the peacefulness of the night. Jacob never interrupted me and the only thing I had to worry about was the times when Moleck needed a sail dropped or raised.

"I thought I'd find you here," Arno sat down on a barrel to my right. "I noticed you took the night shift yesterday, but Moleck was a chatterbox and didn't let me come over."

I raised an eyebrow at him. "Did he really talk all night then?"

"No," Arno smiled, amber eyes alight with amusement. "He stopped long enough to shove food in his face."

I laughed and sat down on the barrel next to his. "He doesn't really seem like the talkative type."

Arno met my eyes, smile not disappearing. "I wouldn't expect to get another conversation with Rook tonight if I were you. She really gets him going."

I smiled back and looked up at the stars. I quickly located the constellation I was looking for. Pegasus. Arno followed my gaze to the sky. "Which constellation is your favorite?"

"Pegasus," I said. "I always loved the idea of a flying horse. What about you? Which one's your favorite?"

Arno was silent as he studied the sky. "It's a tie between Orion and Aquila the Eagle. Orion was the only man that Artemis let hunt at her side, and he was an amazing fighter. Aquila the Eagle carried Zeus's lightning bolts and the brightest star is called Altair, the same as one of my friends."

   "Altair? You know Altair?"

Arno laughed. "Not the one that you're thinking of. I know the younger Altaïr, he was named after the Master Assassin. He carries the same last name as well because his family abandoned him. Archer and I sort of adopted him into our little brotherhood." He stopped suddenly, like he wanted to say more but couldn't.

I raised my eyes back up to the sky. "So where is Aquila the Eagle?"

Hope you all enjoyed this chapter! At first I didn't like the way Rook was coming but I think I fixed her now.

If you have any questions please ask, I'd love to answer them. For me or for the characters.

I actually needed to look up bird constellations because I wanted Arno's favorite to be a bird but I didn't want it to by the swan. I didn't know there was an eagle constellation until now! I don't even know if I can see it from where I live, but who cares!

May the wind blow strong in your sails!
