Evie stood next to me in the crowd with Jacob on her other side. A broad smile lighting up her face. The silver necklaces around her neck shining in the sunlight.

We were facing a hastily erected stage. Queen Victoria stood in the center of the stage. Rook and Archer stood on her right, Arno on her left. Our three friends were dressed in full assassin uniform. Arno's sword glowed at his side.

The crowd was talking excitedly. None of us knew what was happening except for Rook, Archer, Arno, Jacob, and Evie. All of whom had refused to tell me.

A column of crackling lightning erupted behind the small group. Rook stood tall her right hand raised to the sky. "We would like your undivided attention please!" she shouted.

The crowd quieted and the lightning stopped. Rook lowered her hand.

Queen Victoria smiled at Rook, who bowed and took a single step back. "I have ordered you here today," she began grandly. "To celebrate the victory of three very skilled individuals." She swept a hand through the air and looked directly at Jacob, Evie and I. "Sir Cormac, would you do the honors?"

Archer bowed. "I will My Lady." He grinned and stepped forward. "Would Jacob and Evie Frye please come up?"

Evie squeezed my hand and grinned. She followed behind her brother onto the stage, where they stood next to Archer.

Archer cleared his throat. "And also Henry Green."

I blinked in surprise, but walked toward the stage. I climbed the stairs and stood next to Jacob. He smirked at me and quickly returned his attention to Queen Victoria.

Queen Victoria stepped toward us. Arno at her side. She stopped and regarded us for a moment before holding out a hand to Arno.

Arno bowed his head and drew his sword. It glowed brightly in the light. Queen Victoria took the sword. It made a low humming sound in her hand.

Evie caught her breath. "A Piece of Eden," she whispered.

Queen Victoria never said a word. She touched the sword to my right shoulder, then Jacob's, then Evie's. "I name you Sir Henry Green of England, Sir Jacob Frye of England, and Dame Evie Frye of England."

Arno took his sword back and sheathed it. The crowd cheered. Jacob, Evie, and I bowed.

Queen Victoria smiled and left the stage.

Archer and Arno offered congratulations by clapping us on the back while Rook gave us all a hug. She seemed lighter and happier since last night. A completely different person.

Arno gestured for us to follow him. We headed away from the crowd of people. They were starting to break up.

Arno, Archer, and Rook led us to a dark alley. Rook's black robes melted into the shadows, making her hard to see.

Evie tilted her head. "Why are we here?"

The trio faced us. Rook gave us a smirk.

"We're leaving," Arno said. "Altair asked us to join him."

Rook grinned. "He didn't really call me, but I go where Arch goes."

Archer smiled and put an arm around her shoulders.

Evie frowned. "One question first. For Arno."

I glanced at her. Was she going to ask if they were going to stay? Or where they were going? Turns out, neither.

"How did you get a Piece of Eden?"

Arno looked down at the glowing hilt of his sword. "It was a gift of sorts. Elise agreed that if we found the sword she would let me keep it." He took a deep breath. "We found it. It caused an explosion that killed her."

"He asked me to keep it while he reported back," Rook said. "None of us wanted the brotherhood to have it."

Archer smiled. "We hid it with my magic." He reached into the air in front of him and pulled a bow and quiver out of nowhere. His smile grew as he hung the quiver on his belt and threw the bow over his shoulder. "We've all learned to control it. Blackbird can actually channel it without touching it."

A little bolt of lightning wove through Rook's fingers.

"Exactly," Arno smirked at Rook. "We should get going before we change our minds."

Rook smiled. "See you up top!" She vanished, a rook standing where she had been. The bird nipped at Archer's hood as it flew toward the sky.

Archer looked at Arno. "We'd better change on the roof. We'll get stuck down here."

They both turned and started climbing. They were in perfect sync with each other, climbing swiftly up the wall.

   "Good luck!" I called.

Archer paused long enough to hang off a window ledge with one hand and salute me. "To you as well!"

Jacob snorted. "Don't they ever rest?"

   "I doubt it," Evie said.

Arno stopped after he pulled himself up onto the roof. He looked down at Evie, giving her a sad smile before he darted after Archer, who had passed him and ran off.

Evie looked down with a small smile.

There was a whooshing sound. I looked up. Two dragons spiraled into the air. One was blue, the other was gray. A small black dot flitted between them.

I took Evie's hand and smiled at her. She smiled back. I got the feeling that there were a great many happy times ahead of us.
