XD Jacob in the background!

I arrived at the station with Evie as Arno's dark blue robes disappeared inside. Jacob, Arno, Evie, and Archer all started talking the instant they were all in the same car. I walked by them and entered the car that Jacob had insisted we put a bar in.

Rook was leaning against the bar, smirking at the Rooks around her. All of them were trying to get her attention except for Josh, who sat in the corner watching his fellows with obvious distaste.

She looked up as I started toward her. She jumped up on the bar, careful to not step on anything. "Clear the way boys!"

The Rooks parted, clearing a way for me. Rook dropped from the bar and leaned against it again, picking up a glass and looking at its contents before placing it on the bar again.

I sat down next to her. "Not a drinker?"

Rook shrugged. "Nothing happens so why bother?" She flinched as someone crashed into a table and a glass shattered on the floor. "And that happens."

"Why did you come in here?" I asked, waving the bartender off when he walked toward me.

"Archer said there were Rooks here. I wanted to see them." She flinched again as another glass shattered. "I'm starting to think it was a bad idea."

Evie came through the door. She had undone her hair so it hung over her shoulders. The Rooks instantly stopped talking. Evie waved a hand and the talking resumed, though people weren't as rowdy. "Rook. We need your help," she looked at me and smiled. "And yours as well most likely."

"Sure," Rook said. She stopped. "Wait... what am I doing? Does it have anything to do with the queen's party?"

"It does. How did you know about that? We haven't even been in London for two hours and you already know that the queen is having a party tonight!" Evie exclaimed. "Come this way. Henry, you'll be our protection from the rooftops. The queen has given her consent."

I nodded and smiled at her. "Does that mean you won't be wearing your robes?"

She sighed dramatically and Rook groaned. "Indeed it does."

Rook stuck out her bottom lip. "Please don't make me Eve."

"If you want to come you will. If it makes you feel better, Archer's just as annoyed."

Rook turned red. "Why would that-"

   "Come with me," Evie smirked.

Rook rolled her eyes and followed Evie back out. I followed behind them and stopped in the same car as Archer and Jacob.

Archer was sitting on the floor in a fancy gray suit with a very annoyed expression, Jacob was still wearing his assassin robes and was looking very proud of himself. He grinned when I entered. "Hello Greenie! I managed to convince Evie to make Archer go instead of me."

"It's not funny Jacob," Archer growled. "I'm only going because Evie said Rook would be going too."

Jacob frowned but said nothing. I sat down and smiled slightly at Archer as he adjusted his sword for what had to be the thousandth time. "And now, we wait."

None of us saw Evie or Rook until the train pulled into the station we needed. Evie came out first, wearing a dark red dress with a wide skirt and short sleeves that hung to her elbows. Her hair was in it's usual braid wrapped around her head. Her two necklaces shone in the light. She looked absolutely stunning. She handed me two sets of folded robes.

"I need you to make sure those end up in the bushes by the pond," she said.

I smiled. "Of course, Evie. Where's Rook?"

"She should be coming any second."

Archer leaned against the wall next to the door, ignoring Jacob's amused look.

The door opened on the opposite side of the car. I looked up when Jacob whistled. Rook slipped through the open door. She wore a black dress with silver beads. Her top was loose enough for me to suspect that her two swords were hidden in the fabric. Her sleeves were also long and loose enough for hidden blades to be hiding underneath. The most noticeable necklace was a round, dark blue pendent with a silver tree in the center.

Archer pushed himself off the wall and walked over to her. He said something quietly and Rook glared at him and punched his shoulder. He rubbed the spot and murmured a complaint. To which Rook responded with, "You'll live."

Jacob's expression was unreadable as he watched Rook and Archer. I tucked Evie's and Rook's robes under one arm and walked over to him. "Jealous?"

Jacob glared at me. "Why would I be jealous?"

I shook my head at him and smiled, holding the door open so everyone could get off. Rook stepped onto the platform with surprising grace, while Evie almost tripped.

The four Rooks that were standing around the platform all turned to look at our group as we passed.

"Rookie, how are you so graceful?" Evie asked, hobbling toward the carriage with her legs straight.

Rook sighed. "Thank Archer for making me go to parties with him, Arno, and Elise."

Arno smiled, he was wearing a blue suit the same color as his assassin robes. He'd agreed, nearly as grudgingly as Rook and Archer, to act as Evie's guest. "He would pester her until she agreed to go with him." He held out a hand for Evie to help her into the carriage and climbed in after her.

Archer gave Rook a sarcastic bow and held out his own hand for her. Rook made a face at him, but took it and pulled herself into the carriage opposite Arno and Evie.

I put a hand on Archer's shoulder to catch his attention before he got on. He turned to me, his eyes just shining spots under the shadow of his top hat. "We'll be right behind you," I told him. "Try not to get into any trouble."

"Not if I can help it," Archer said. He gave me a smirk and jumped into the carriage next to Rook. I closed the door and waved to Josh, who was their driver.

Josh nodded and clicked his tongue. The horses started off at a trot toward Queen Victoria's party.

"Arno had better take good care of my sister," Jacob murmured, starting toward the carriage we had decided on taking.

I smiled and reached into my pocket. Hopefully, nothing would go wrong.
