Coast to Coast- Chapter 12 (Present Time)

I glanced over at Caden and the Hazel green eyes that first captivated me were covered by his sunglasses.

I had just woken up from my nap and the first thing I saw was Caden’s side profile as he continued driving. We were heading towards Illinois and for once Caden and I were being civil towards each other.

During the drive we had only fought over the radio station twice and I only threatened to kill him once.

“You know you could take a picture, it would last longer” he smirked as he turned to quickly look at me before returning to look at the road.

“Yea I would but it might break the camera” I shot back.

“haha” he faked laughed. “Can you check the name of the exit that we are support to take for the hotel.”

I looked over at the GPS, “It coming up after the next exits we pass”

“Okay, Oh and by the way you might want to wipe off the drool” he said

“What” I quickly swiped my mouth with my sleeve before I pulled the mirror down. He laughed at my reaction and I smacked his shoulder as faintly I blushed.

“OW” He mocked “You know some might think this is an abusive relationship with the way you always hit me”

“Oh sucked it up, I’m pretty sure Nate’s tackles you harder” I replied

“Whatever, I can’t wait to get to the hotel and sleep. My eyes are beginning to hurt from staring at the road and listening to what you call music”

“It’s called country and at least they use word and not three letter words like hoe after every other word”

“Yea, words cause ain’t is really proper English”

Make that threaten to kill him twice. I tried to stretch as much as I could in the tight space of the passenger seat before I gave up and just stumped back into the seat. I stepped out of the car after we parked in the hotel’s parking lot. It was pretty full and the car next to us had obviously never parked a car since it was taking some of our space.

I grabbed my jacket from the backseat and took the duffle bag from the trunk. While I was zipped up my jacket, Caden locked up the car.

“Did you make reservations?”

“No, but it was the closest place I could find for another 30 miles” he replied.

We quickly entered the building and headed to the front desk

“Welcome, how may I help you?” Said a friendly women

“Do you guys have two rooms available?” I asked

“Umm hold on one sec and let me checked the computer? She quickly typed something in before looking back at us.

“We are almost fully booked because we are hosting a wedding here tomorrow, so most of the rooms are taken”

“Are you sure?”

“Oh wait I found a room on the third floor although you might have to share a bed. Is that okay?”

 Caden and I glanced at each other uneasily.

“There aren’t any that are close by” he voiced

I turned to look at the receptionist, “We’ll take it”
