Chapter 8: Phoebe

JJ and Tobi went off in search for the generator.

They walked along the trial watching as Alexis, Vikk, Lucy, and Harry go off on their own in search Lucy's bag and soon walked off in a different direction from the house. From what Josh had told them, the generator was on the east wing of the trail so they headed in that direction. They continued walking until they came across a small cabin by the river. The cabin was empty and half of it was torn down with the ceiling slightly caving in. It was there that they found the generator in the back along a small flight of stairs. They walked upward to the cabin and went inside as Jide went to start the machine and Tobi looked around. He found something on shelf and picked it up, turning to JJ.

"You know, I remember when we used to come up here with Josh and we would see these things all over the place," he said, holding the object for Jide to see. It was a little brown, wooden object that had a weird face on it and had a yellow in the middle of its body. It looked like a little tiki man staring back at him. "I always too scared to touch them."

Jide looked at the wooden figure and shuttered.

"Yeah, those things are creepy man."

He bent down trying to find a way to get the generator running while Tobi examined the wooden figure. He was like a child seeing a toy for the first time, bewildered at what the artifact was and/or what it could do. Jide looked back at him and shook his head, asking for Tobi's help.

"Yeah, yeah, I'll be right there in second," he said shooing him away and not taking his eyes off of the tiki man. He flipped it sideways seeing that the yellow line around its belly that lead to its back, and when he turned the wooden man over his vision went black and all he could see were his two best friends screaming and fight for their lives:

Lucy was dangling from a ledge, holding on for dear life. She had cuts and bruises all over her face and she like she was almost crying. She cried out for Harry who was standing at the edge of the ledge trying to help her. He reached out for her and the whole metallic building began to shift for ward.

"Harry, just fucking go! Just go!" Lucy screamed at him, but he refused to move. He reached out for her again and the building shifted again and Lucy's fingers slipped off. She began falling into an abyss of debris and fallen glass as Harry lunged forward into the mines.

There was a darkness... and then the next thing you know, a flash of scene of Harry's head covered in blood and rolling on the ground appeared and then the whole thing went black.

Tobi came back to reality with a shutter and threw the totem across the cabin just as Jide finally got the machine to work. He pressed a button and pulled a cord and all of a sudden the lights came on. Jide ran outside to check if the rest of the lights had finally came on, and much to his surprise they had. He walked back inside all excited and ready to high-five Tobi, but when he reentered the cabin he found Tobi staring at the wall as if he had seen a ghost.

"Tobi?" Jide waved his hand in front of his face. "Dude are you okay?"

There was a loud, screeching scream that came from the woods that helped Tobi snap back to himself. He looked at Jide and his eyes widened.

"We need to get out of here now," He said, grabbing Jide's hand and leading him out the cabin. "We need to find Lucy and Harry, NOW!"

Jide frowned. "Why? What the hell is going on?"

"I don't know and I don't intend on finding out."

They started walking back when the scream echoed once more, this time sounding a lot closer. Jide began to freak out and Tobi was already going mental after the vision he had. Something killed Harry, or was going to kill him. The only question was; who or what would do such a thing? And to top it off, was whatever Tobi saw in his vision coming after them as well?

The screams kept getting louder and louder, so that began to run. They ran and ran until they started to get lost and didn't know where to go. Stoping for a moment, Tobi tried to see if there was any way to get back. But before he could even turn to look at JJ, a tall, white-ish figure appeared in front of them. It had giant legs about as skinny as pencils and arms long enough to claw the guys up from about five or six feet away. It stared them dead in their faces as the crimson blood on his teeth began to shimmer in the moon light and its glazed over eyes began to blink.

They guys knew they were dead, there was nothing left to do but die. So they closed their eyes and braced for the impact of the creatures claws... When suddenly someone screamed, "GET DOWN NOW!"

With out a moment of hesitation, Tobi grabbed Jide and pulled him to the ground. A long line of fire shot out from a distance at the creature as it cried out another one of its death defying screams. Soon a person popped out wearing a hoodie and full-blown gas mask, along with a flame thrower attached to their back that they was using to blow fire at the thing.

The person blew another ray of fire at the pale creature now grabbed the guys' arms, telling them to run. So that is exactly what they did; the ran. They ran far off the trail trying to make it back to the generator cabin as the gas mask person followed and used the blow torch who/what was coming after them. Eventually the fire burnt the skin of the creature and you could see the fire help the body start t to decay. So by the time they had gotten back to the cabin and closed the door, the thing was practically dead.

They leaned against the walls, trying to catch their breath from all the running. And just as Tobi was going to thank the man who had helped save them, the 'man' had taken off their mask and revealed themselves to be a female. Jide and Tobi both looked at each other in awe.

"You're... a girl?" Jide asked holding his stomach from the running pain.

The girl removed the hood from her head, revealing her long, silky brown hair.

"Yeah," she nodded as if it had been obvious. "My name's Phoebe."
