About a week later Nicki had been meeting with this person and meeting with that person like clockwork . She had been working really hard on this case and getting everything was working out well . She had no doubt In her mind that she had this in the bag but she didn't get ahead of herself . There was still much more work to do . Her first visit with Drake was approaching quickly and she couldn't wait .
Monday
It was around lunch time Nicki was at work and she had just got off the phone with one of her clients and she was starving. Picking up her phone again , she dialed Carlos' office . He picked up after about 2 rings.
Carlos : this is Carlos
Nicki: take me to get some food please. I'm starving.
Carlos: uh oh . Here we go .
Nicki: I don't ever been this hungry in my life .
Carlos: you better get used to it. That little one is gonna have u eating everything.
Nicki: okay we're talkin a little much . I'm hungry here
Carlos: what u want to eat woman ?
Nicki: chicken . Any kind.
Carlos: I know the place
Once they got off the phone they met up outside at Carlos' car . He took her to a Raising Cane's chicken place. Whenever they sat down and ate Nicki started to tell him about the Drake situation.
Carlos: when will u see him again?
Nicki: I'll go on Thursday actually. I'm off on Thursday.
Carlos: You know I'm kinda glad you're doing this . This will put u on a higher pedestal than you're already on . Get your name out there some more you know .
Taking a sip of her lemonade before answering she replied
" I know , and it's going pretty good. Part of me is doing this for him because it's him you know but another part of me drives on pushing myself to climb the corporate ladder .
Carlos: I feel u 100% . Honestly , you could probably have your own firm in a few years .
Nicki: you really think that .
Carlos: I know so . I thought about it a while back but I just don't think I'm cut out for it, but you , I think u could pull it off .
After lunch the day went by pretty fast for her. She made it home a little after 4:30. As soon as she made it through the door her phone rang and it was drake . She didn't hesitate to answer and accept the charges.
Drake: hey babe
Nicki: Heyyy . I miss u
Drake: I miss u too. How have you been doin? U eating enough food and stuff like that?
Nicki: yes babe , I'm super far into pregnancy yet tho. My doctor told me in about a month or two I'll be eating everything.
Drake: I wish I was there with you.
Nicki: I know but it won't be very long . Hopefully, you'll be home soon . I'm working on it.
Drake: I know you are but don't work yourself too much . You can't just worry about me. You got take care of yourself so u can take care of the baby .
Nicki: I kn-
He cut her off. "What about vitamins , have u been takin pregnant vitamins?
Nicki: Drake, chill . I've been doing everything the doctor tells me to.
I won't work myself too much either . I know my limits . I'm starting to get tired easy . I just wan-
The unwanted automated voice notifying them time was almost up made them both sigh. They ended the call shortly after but not before I love you's. As soon as the phone disconnected she cursed . Why? She forgot to tell him about she'll be seeing him more often and about when her next visit is. Damn timed phone calls she thought to herself.
Seemed like it took a couple of forevers for Thursday to come but it came . And when it did it didn't start off too great . Morning sickness had no mercy for a start. The massive headache taking hold of her wasn't helping either. On top of it all she dropped her and cracked the screen. Since she'd been looking forward to this day for a while she tried to get it together and look pretty for her boo. She was not changing up her plans for nothing or nobody .
Later On In The Day
She made it to the dreadful place that she hated her baby had to be in around 3 something. Getting back to see him in a timely manner wasn't a problem seeing as she had none with getting everything situated before hand. She waited about 5 minutes before she seen him come walking towards her. They shared a long awaiting hug before they sat down across from each other . When he sat down he had a little smirk on his face that turned into a big teethy grin .
Drake: I didn't know you were coming to see me today . How are you doing?
Nicki: I'm doing alright I guess . I forgot to tell u lastnight. And actually, I'll be seeing you more now since I'm handling your case
Drake: how's my baby
Nicki: giving me the blues today how are you ?
I'm good but what's wrong ? He asked while grabbing her hands .
Nicki: I haven't had the best day today .
Drake: Well you look pretty
Nicki: Thanks.
Drake asked her why she was havin a bad day while furrowing his thick brows and crossing his arm.
She went on to tell him about her day and everything that was going on with her meeting his friends, the baby , work, basically just catching him up to everything that's been going on.
Drake: I hate I'm in this place
Nicki : I know . I hate it too .
Drake : when u get home can u do me a favor please
Nicki: yeah babe what chu want me to do ?
Drake : call my little babies and tell them I miss em and I love em . Tell they mama too.
" ohh I know they miss u a ton . I haven't seen em in a minute so I'll probably just go see my girls." She said while looking down at her watch to see how much time they had left together. She sighed a little sigh and looking as if she wanted to cry .
Drake looking at her he already knew what the deal was .
"it'll be alright Nic . We just both gotta be strong . You gotta be strong for yourself. U gotta be strong for my son or my daughter that's in there ." He said pointing at her stomach , grabbing her hands , and moving a little closer to her .
Drake : baby u gotta be strong for me . Just like I gotta be strong for y'all . I pray for you and my baby every single morning, every afternoon, every evening, every single night. We gonna be alright okay .
She nodded wiping the already fallen stray tears.
Drake: God got us .
He smiled and wiped her tears .
Drake : U remember you telling me that ?
Nicki: Yeah I do
Their time was coming closely to an end . And the visit was a much needed one at that . They spent the little time they had left talking about him and how he was doing . A little bit about the baby some more because he kept asking about the baby. Baby names came up, they were about to start throwing names out but they ran out of time . She told him to be thinking of some names until the next time she talks to him. They hugged and he gave her a kiss on the temple and said I love you before he had to go .
