Chapter 19

Nicki: hey mama, how are you

They both stood and greeted her with an embrace. She had decided to meet up with the two soon to be grandmothers so they could do some catching up, due to her being so busy.

Sandi: I'm good thank you. I should be asking you, how's my grand baby

Nicki: He's alright. Doctor says everything is going as it should which is good to hear

Sandi: it is. And how have you been

She said now referring to Carol as they shared their embrace and took their seats.

Carol: very well thank you

Sandi: good good. It's nice to get this chance for us to just catch up like this

They both agreed as they all picked up their drinks menus to decide what drinks they wanted. Not long later their waiter came over and took their drinks and meal orders and once they had ordered left them to continue their conversation.

Sandi: did I hear you say he, when I asked about the baby earlier

Nicki gave a smile before nodding.

Nicki: You've got a grandson on the way

Carol: why didn't you tell us sooner, we've been waiting to start buying outfits?

Nicki: I've been so busy I completed forgot. I think I've only told Aubrey and that's it

She wore a small pout as the two women chuckled before voicing their excitement to start baby clothes and toys shopping.

Carol: speaking of Aubrey, when are you next seeing him?

Nicki: In a couple of days actually, I saw him last week but we managed to get another visit penciled in so I could go over important point in the case with him, as I'm not free on the date they gave me next week

Sandi: how come?

Nicki: Defending another one of my clients

She bit the inside of her lip causing her right dimple to show already knowing they weren't going to be happy about it.

Carol: Onika you need to stop, this isn't healthy for the baby

Nicki: I know but this court date was put in place way before I found out I was pregnant and so I couldn't just let them down like that

Sandi: You should take some time to relax and just focus on yourself, because you don't want to over work yourself. You need a break every now and then

Nicki: I'm not working too hard, if I was I would stop, don't worry

Carol: If you say so, we just want what's best for you and the baby.

Nicki walked behind the warden as he led her to the room where would be meeting with Drake. Once she walked in she found him sat there tapping a simple beat on the table. His face lit up once he saw her, causing her to do the same. She walked over to him and they shared a short embrace before she took a seat next to him.

Drake: how are you?

Nicki: good I guess.

She gave a small smile

Nicki: how about you

Drake: Coping

Nicki: I can imagine

He returned the small smile.

Drake: hows he doing?

Nicki: He's good, doctor said everything is going as it should do so that's always a good sign
