Chapter 20

2 weeks before trial

Now Nicki is big pregnant and she's feeling every bit of it . She is very tired most of the time , her feet always hurt , her back hurts , and she has terrible heartburn . All of this added to the large amount of stress she's under about work . Everyone including her supervisor has spoken to her about taking her maternity leave but stubborn and determined Nika comes out in defense mode defending that she's okay. In all truth she's not . A couple times this week she'd experienced some sharp pains but she brushed them off when her doctor told her about Braxton-hicks .

Tuesday

The day had been going really good for Nicki so far . She'd taken the day off so that took away more than a little bit of the stress. She was also going to have a regular visit with Drake today so she was somewhat high in spirits.

Once she got there she didn't have to wait a long time to see him he was sitting waiting on her whenever she walked in. She walked over to him, they hugged and sat down across from each other.

Drake: What my son been doing?

Nicki: Growing . Growing. Growing.

Drake: I see ! You look pretty pregnant tho . It suits you well.

Nicki: well than- woahhh.

Drake: what is it you okay ?
He stood.

Nicki giggled a little bit as assured him she was fine .

Nicki: he just started kicking a whole bunch . He always does that it just catches me off guard. He's a happy baby.

Drake just got a little quiet after the moment so Nic tried to start up conversation again.

Nicki: How you been coping in here ?

Drake: as best as I can you know . I just really wanna be at home with you tho . I'm missing out on your whole entire pregnancy I've already missed a huge chunk of it all ready. I'm just ready to get outta here. Just then when the baby was kickin you ...you don't know how bad I wanted to come over and feel him kick and all that . But I can't . I'm in here on lock down can't get too close . Even a hug is limited . The closest I've been to you,  the most freedom and just a little privacy I've had with you since i been in here is when we did those special lawyer visits . It's sad Nic . It really is.

& he went on while Nicki sat and really watched him while he poured it all out to her . It was really taking a toll on him . I mean she knew he had to be stressed about all that was goin on but not like this .

"You'll be home soon babe . I promise I been working really hard to get you home" Nicki replied as a sharp pain came through almost on queue when she mentioned working . She told him to sit and she was ok because he was already up but this really alarmed Drake when she told him before about some of the pains she was having . And of course he heard about the incident at the house from his boys. Nicki had to take it easy . For her and for the baby .

Drake: Nic look at me.

She did.

"I know you been in a lot of pain ok and I really want you to stop working so much maybe even stop working all together. I'm just thinkin' about you and my son in there." 

Nicki: Drake , baby I understand but I know my limits. I try not to do a lot...definitely not as much as I'm used to doing . Think about it , next week we'll be preparing to go to court . Next Monday ...trial starts . After that ...hopefully you'll be home because I really want you there when I go into labor. I don't think I can do that ...I'm making it thru this pregnancy okay but making it doesn't stop me from wanting you with me. I'm kinda scared and a little nervous but I'm ready to have this baby . That's why I'm still working . To get you home.

Drake: if I'm not with you or not you gonna bring this baby in the world and you gonna do a great job. Bae you gotta know I only want what's best for you. Maybe you should try and postpone the date ? To get some rest you know ...ill be okay . Just think about it.

Nicki was about to reply back to him but a guard came to take Drake back . He just looked her as he was escorted back to wherever they had him and mouthed I love you to her. She sat for a minute and left when she seen him walk through very loud and thick the doors.

A week later

Nicki was at home eating watching tv when her phone rang . It was Courtne.

Nicki: Hey court what's up .

Courtne: Nothing much . How've you been ?

Nicki: I'm okay ready to have this baby I know that . I'm so hot all the time . And sleepy . Oh my gosh I eat everything.

Court laughed and her and Nicki talked a long time . They'd gotten really close over the past few months . Not to mention how much the girls loved them some Nicki . Courtne convinced Nicki to get out the house go out to eat and shop for the baby . She swung by the house to pick Nicki up and they hit it.
While they were out shopping after eating Nicki kept having little waves of pain in her back and stomach but she didn't wanna alarm Courtne so she kept them to herself.

"You like these? Courtne asked holding up the cutest little baby polo outfits . One had a turquoise and purple shirt with jeans to match and the other had a red and yellow shirt with jeans and a hat .

"Those are so cute!! I gotta get  em both." She said taking them from her going Gaga over them.

" Let's see if we can find some  socks or some shoes to match these"

Courtne: ok u alright tho . We've been out quite a while and shopped a lot . You not overdoing it are you ? We can do this again another time you know.

Nicki: Well im a little tired but I'm okay

Courtne: you sure

"I'm fine" she said but in reality she wasn't . Her feet and back were hurting not to mention the waves of pain she was getting . Nicki was slowly overdoing it. She just wanted to get the nursery done and buy some stuff because she's always too tired or working to get anything done .

They didn't find any shoes or anything to match the clothes they bought but Courtne promised to be looking around for some stuff they didn't find today . After they left out the store Courtne took Nicki straight home because she'd grown to know Nicki , they'd got really close , and Courtne knew that she wasn't 100% .

The next day

Since Nicki was not trying to push back Drake's court date she had to prepare for it . He called her and she told him she was ok and there was no need for a delay. She got an early start on her day so she can get a lot done with Drake and another client she had . Almost around lunch time surprisingly she was having a really good day but
when she was about to go on her lunch break when she just started feeling really bad all of a sudden . She got up to go and get somebody because it was getting out of hand . As soon as she opened the door and made it our she bumped into Carlos and fainted right in his arms...
