Chapter 6- Not Exactly the Response I Was Looking For

Scott's POV-

You what?! I screamed through my mind-link.

We let her go sir replied Conner with fear in his tone.

Scott you should have seen her. She has a mate back in her hometown. I can't stand the though of losing Emily. I just couldn't do it to her. More rage soared through my body at Josh's words, she was mine. My wolf was getting angry and I knew my hazel eyes were becoming almost black as he was trying to take over.

You idiot! She is my mate! Get her NOW! I put as much command in the mind-link as I could so they did as told. I heard their whimper as a reply before I shut the mind-link off.

No one can have what is mine! I yelled constantly in my head. I was about to rip one of the tables out of the ground when I smelled her. Instantly my temper vanished as quickly as it came and my hazel eyes returned. In just the snap of a finger I was normal and searching for her. I don't care if she thinks she has a mate in her hometown, she is mine. I began to search for her, everyone else seemed to be occupied with the steaming food in front of them. I ran towards the back door where her scent was the strongest, stopping within feet from it waiting for her to come in. She opened the door cautiously, sniffing the air before widening it to look at me. She looked gorgeous, her beautiful flowing auburn hair met at her mid-back and her blue dress was stunning. I could see the realization hitting her, then her eyes went big and she started to back away. Not exactly the response I was looking for. She continued to walk back until she was out the door. She turned and ran from me. My mate was leaving me.

Amber's POV-

I approached the door and the smells hit me. They were all wolves but one stood out, it smelled of vanilla and the muskiness of the forest, I absolutely loved that smell and I just had to find it's owner. The smell seemed to be stronger on the other side, my body moved towards it against my permission.  I opened the door and my eyes met his, only feet away. Our eyes locked and I was staring at the one person I hated. My mate. I started to back away when the word flashed through my mind. I should be rejecting him but I didn't have it in me, his hazel eyes were filled with love, love for me. I couldn't do it, I may be heartless at times but this was not one of those. So I did the one thing I knew how to do,

I ran.

I ran as fast as I could, moving in the opposite direction for the third time that day. I needed out of there, I needed to breathe without his smell intoxicating me. I felt tons of thorns scraping at my ankles and the pain was immeasurable. But I didn't care, only one thing hurt and that was my heart, as cheesy as that sounds. I saw the hurt in his eyes when I left. My heart was beginning to sink with each thought of him, emotions clouding my better judgment as my mind and heart battled. Why was I even acting like this? This was too much emotion in one day.

My breath started to quicken uncontrollably, causing me to stop. I felt a searing pain run through my body and I fell down. I looked down to see hair sprouting out in all places visible. Was I shifting? My mouth started to quiver as I felt a massive toothache forming. I pulled my trembling hands to my teeth and felt my fangs. My bones started to shift inside my body and my stance grew smaller. I was now on all fours, the shock still ringing through me. Then my feet, or should I saw paws, gave out as I felt darkness surround me.
