Chapter 3- Mine
Scott's POV-
Alright, I will meet you at Michael's Smokey Heaven on the border of our territory I mind-linked Ian.
Okay, see you there he responded.
As soon as I stepped in, I saw Mary. She was one of the few humans that knew of us, she has been here since before the town was built so i thought it was only fair to tell her.
"Scott!" She yelled at me. She ran up and immediately pulled me into a hug, but not before pinching my cheeks.
"Mary, what did i tell you about pinching!" I said back, but not without a slight smile. You just couldn't get mad at this woman. She smiled back with a sorry.
"Oh! I almost forgot! I saw another one of you come in yesterday, but she said she wasn't from around here"
"Who is it?" I asked kindly, although i was slightly cautious, if she was a rogue i would have to deal with her. If i left her alone, she would most likely wander into the Red Dusk Pack, and they didn't take prisoners.
"She said her name was Amber. Didn't give a last name" I didn't know her but there was something inviting about her name. My wolf almost purred at the sound of it.
Stop it! We don't know anything about her, she could be a rogue I chastised my wolf. A four lettered word came across my mind but i pushed it away. I was tired of getting hopeful on finding my mate, it always let me down. I would smell something intoxicating and think of my mate, but would find it to be really good perfume. Or I would find someone beautiful, but no the way they describe your mate to be. Your mate would be breath-taking, maybe not to others but to your wolf she would be. The most reliable way to know is if you looked in their eyes, you would be in a trance and your wolf would take over. If i looked in my Mate's eyes I would know she is mine but unless she looked in mine, she wouldn't have a clue except for my smell.
"She should be coming down for her shift and you can meet her then... maybe get her number or something?" She asked, wiggling her eyebrows, but failing miserably.
"Sure thing Mary" I joked as she walked away. As soon as she left, I heard the door open and Josh and our pack fighters came spilling in. This was our usual spot for a 'limited pack meeting'. Mary always closed the restaurant but still had a few waitresses to feed us.
"Alright everyone sit down, we have a meeting to discuss" I said as I led them to a line of tables. "Now, the Red Dusk Pack has been moving their warriors closer to our boundaries and this human town. If we do not stop them, then this town will be obliterated, as their Alpha is merciless." Everyone remained calm as they soaked in the information. "We will start our defense by-' I was cut off by a smell that took over my whole body. The other pack members must have smelled something completely different because they jumped up and broke into a protective stance. The smell was so inviting that I couldn't smell the intruder.
And then she walked through the door.
She froze and looked around but never saw me, but i saw.
I saw in her eyes that she was mine.
