The Pain of Loving a Celebrity

Chapter 8

When we got to the studio.Charles and I got out.There was crew everywhere running around.

"It must be a stressful job working here," I said walking inside.

"Yeah.I would rather be in my band than doing this."

We made our way inside and were immediately greeted by two of the workers. One of them was a girl.She was extremely pretty and made me feel terrible.Charles was staring at her obviously checking her out. I rolled my eyes and looked at the other who was a boy.Charles was much better looking than him.

"Okay.So what is gonna happen is,that she's gonna annouce for you two to go onto the stage.You both will go on and ansewr the questions she is to ask."

I nodded barely listening,she acted like I had not done this before.Then they lead us to a back room with food and drinks.There was also two couches across from each other. I sighed quietly and went in with Charles. He just stood there looking at me. The guy closed the door and we were left alone.

"Hey are you okay?" I asked curiously.

He nodded and sat across from me.I watched him closely.You would think he would sit next to me but I guess I was wrong.It is not like we went on a "date" or anything. Charles was kind of acting like a jerk and I did not like it one bit. About twenty minutes later the girl came back in and ushered us out.We stood near the stage as the host talked about celebrity news and such.

"Now I'd like to welcome Charles and Nova.The most talked about celebrities currently," she said standing up in her chair.

They pushed me out first and I walked over to her with Charles following me. I shook her and sat.He did the same and sat right next to me.Charles almosted landed in my lap,that's how close he was.

"I think we all know why you two are here."

"Well," Charles started, "Nova and I are dating actually."

My eyes widened as he said this.I turned to him and he smiled then wrapped his arm around me. "Oh! Well let's give it up for hopefully the next top couple," she said standing and clapping.

I just sat there looking off.He told me to say it was friendly now we are dating? I am going to talk to him after this.I am not okay with this. Everyone clapped and whistled happily.

"So you and the others are going on tour right?" she asked me.

"Yeah..we wanted to so we could spend more time together."

"Aww how cute!"

Charles nodded and rubbed my arm.I flinched slightly and looked over at him again. He didn't even look at me,he just answered the questions she was throwing at him about the band.

"Nova?"

"Hmm?" I asked turning back to her.

"Have any plans you want to tell us about?"

"Actually,I do. I am planning to go to the studio soon and work on my next album," I said with a smile.

"Name! We need a name dear."

"I am not sure yet,but I do know that this one is gonna be more personal than the rest."

She smiled and nodded.I was not lying about that unlike this mess Charles put me into. I heard Charles huff as we sat there while she talked a bit.

"Let's give Charles and Nova another round of applause please!"

The crowd stood up and clapped.I stood and so did Charles.I waved smiling as we walked backstage.

"What the hell was that?" I yelled as we were led outside to the car.

"What?" he asked looking confused.

"The whole "dating" thing!"

"Shush! Somebody could hear you,"he whisper yelled putting a finger to my mouth.

That was one thing I hated. Which was things in my face.I pushed his finger away angrily and quickly slipped into the car. He got in as well and closed the door.The driver drove us back to the hotel,the ride completely silent. When he pulled into the parking lot I quickly opened the door and stormed inside,leaving Charles alone in the car. On my way in,I ran into Matthew.

"Hey Jessa,are you okay?"

I sighed quietly and nodded,trying not to scream at him. He frowned and wrapped an arm around me.Matthew walked over to the elevator and looked over at me. I nodded and he pressed the button.The doors quickly opened but before we could go in Charles came in. He saw us and growled.

"We need to talk."

"What is there to talk about? That we are "dating" now," I yelled angry.

"Both of you stop! Charles you take the other elevator and we will take this one," Matthew said shutting us up.

Matthew and I walked in and let the door close behind us. I hugged Matthew tightly and laid my head on his chest.He was reasonably warm and smelt like cigarettes and mint. We quickly got to the twenty-fourth floor and stepped out.

"Do you want to go to my room?"

I nodded and the elevator doors next to us opened. Charles stepped out and I rolled my eyes before we walked into Matthew's room. His room had clothes almost everywhere but other than that it was pretty clean. The window was open and there was a ashtray.

"Matthew?" I asked sitting down on the couch.

"Yeah?" he said sitting near the window in a chair.

"Do you smoke?"

He nodded grabbing a pack and lighter of his pocket.As he was about to light hsi ciigarette there was a knock on the hotel door.I stood up and made my way over to it.Slowly opening it,I saw it was Charles standing there tapping his foot.

"Time to talk?"

I looked over at Matthew and he set his pack down. I opened the door more and he came in.

"So why did you say that we were dating?"

"Well I thought we were," he said sitting down by Matthew.

"We are not..all we did was go on one "date"," I said getting angry.

I sat back down and rolled my eyes as Charles started to laugh.Matthew just groaned and shook his head.

"Why don't you two go on a real date? Then I guess you could say you are dating."

"You have a point,Matthew."

Nodding,I smiled and stood back up.This was a publicity stunt,our managers must have set this up.I know this is something they would do and Charles did not actually like me.

"I am going to my room,you two can do whatever."

"We have to perform soon,so we should probably make our way down."

My eyes widened and I quickly made my way out towards the elevator.
