Is It Killing You Like It's Killing Me? (chapter 19)

I got up out of bed, mentally reminding myself of the date. It was some day in January. It had been a lonely winter without Ed, but somehow I managed.

I turned on my phone and looked at the reminder in my lock-screen. "GRAMMY's!"

THE GRAMMY'S ARE TODAY?! I screamed in my mind. It was already noon so I got a mad dash to call my hair man, Joseph.

Thank god I was still in my house in Los Angeles. The Grammy's were held here.

My mom was staying with me since I didn't want to be alone these days.

"Mom! Get up! The Grammy's are tonight!"

"They are?" She got out of her room, fully dressed. I was in plaid pajama pants and an oversized sweatshirt.

I got out of that and studied my pretty gown, which was red/orange.

I had gotten this color for Ed.

I didn't get all orange because someone would suspect something.

It was a long dress with no straps. Most of it was a red velvet color and at the bottom was an orange type fabric that looked like a swirling ocean of orange.

I also got out my pre-show dress, which was knee length with long sleeves. The top was quite tight but it flew down to a flowing bottom. It was black and the sleeves were lacy. I smiled at it.

I put on my pre-show dress and examined myself in the mirror. I looked pretty good, except for my hair, which was a curly mess. I needed to straighten it and get it in a good hairstyle.

Joseph (my hairstylist) was coming over after we talked on the phone. He entered my house at 12:30 and began work immediately.

"What...did you do, Taylor?" He looked horrified at my hair.

"I'm sorry! I woke up about a half hour ago!" I said, in my dress.

He brushed my hair and put my bangs up, so that you could see my forehead. My hair was down and crimped. I liked when my hair was pretty like this.

By the time he was done it was almost 1:30 and I had to find perfect shoes to match my dress. I knew I should have done this ahead of time!

I painted my nails black and put on red shoes with a black bow. I thought I looked too dark, but I still thought I looked good, so I went with it. I didn't bring a purse or anything.

I wore a black bracelet that one of my fans made for me and put on a pearl necklace. I was ready.

I left for the pre-show part at around 3 o'clock and put my gown in my dressing room as soon as I got there.

I was also performing, so I brought my costume.

I sat down in my assigned seat for the pre-show, where I was nominated for an award.

Can you guess who was seated next to me?

That's right. Ed.

My heart started pounding and I wanted to bawl, but I knew everything would be OK.

Ed walked into the room, I had hoped dateless, and immediately spotted me. I twisted my head so he wouldn't see me staring at him and he walked over.

He sat down a seat away from me. I could smell his cologne. No alcohol.

"Hi," he said and it startled me. My stomach felt like I was on a roller coaster, going upside down. Everything came back now, the good and bad things.
