It's been almost eight weeks since Lucas and I's first date. We don't get to go out very much, but we hang out at school together all the time, and he's just proven that he's the greatest person ever.

Which scares me. That's right. I am absolutely terrified that my dad will find out. The closer I feel I am with Lucas, the worse it gets.

I mean, my mom and I have tried to talk to dad about letting me date another time, recently. This time, we thought of arguments together.

It still didn't work, though. Obviously.

"Lovely?" Lucas' sweet voice fills my mind, taking me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah?" I say, looking up at his perfect face smiling down at me. We're sitting at the table under the tree with Kathy, who, of course, insisted that we sit on the same side.

"Why are you spacing out so much lately? You're worrying me." He says with an amused laugh on his words, but I can tell he's not making it all up. I have been doing that a lot lately, and it has obviously been worrying him.

        "I don't know." I say with a laugh, "There's a lot going on, I guess?"

"Alright.Well, I had been trying to ask you if you were going to dress up tomorrow. You know, for Halloween?"

        Right. Tomorrow's Halloween. And I don't have a costume.

        Oops?

"I don't have a costume..." I admit. Kathy gasps and covers her mouth in fake shock.

        "WHAT?!" She says. Loudly.

"Sorry!" I say and put my hands up in surrender.

"You and I are going costume shopping after school." Kathy decides.

"I'm busy after school." I say

        "Busy doing what?"

"I have to help my dad with something."

"And how long will that take?"

        "Not very long..."

"Well then we'll go after you finish." Kathy announces.

"Fine. Where am I going to meet you, then?" I ask.

"Oh no no no. We have to check your closet to see if we can throw something together, first!"

"So I'll call you when I'm done then?"

"Or I can look in your closet while you help your dad." Kathy says with a laugh. "Duh."

No. No she can't. Not really.

"No, um, I don't think that's going to work."

        "Why not?"

        "Because."

"You did not give me a valid reason therefore I am coming." Kathy says.

"Will you stay in my room and not leave until my dad and I are finished?"

        "Probably."

"Not even to go to the bathroom"

        "Probably not."

        "Then no."

"Oh my gosh Delilah, what are you guys going to be doing that's such a huge secret?!" Kathy asks, exasperated.
