"Oh my gosh." I say, covering my mouth with one hand. I found Kathy, and we walked out of the school to see Lucas almost get hit by a car, and my dad watching him. "DAD." I say loudly and march over to him.
"Yes Delilah." He says, clearly a little bit shaken up, his eyes just changing back to green.
"What. Was. That?" I ask, my voice shaking like crazy.
"I'm not in a very good mood right now. Good thing my boss is." He says quietly.
"You have no reason to hate him, dad. None. So don't think those thoughts." I tell him right before Kathy joins us.
"Everything okay?" She asks.
"I didn't, Delilah." My dad says, and I look back to where Lucas was.
Calming thoughts, Delilah. He's fine. He didn't get hit. He's fine. He still has his luck. Deep breaths. In, and out.
He did talk to dad, though. Which is such a stupid, and breaking his promise. So I can be mad at him.
"Everything's fine." I tell Kathy with a smile, and we all make our way to my dad's car.

"So you can stay up here while I quickly finish up with what I have to do for my dad." I say showing Kathy to my room. She nods and turns to my closet while I head down to the basement.
"I don't hate him, Delilah." My dad says when I sit down at my table.
"Yeah, well I'm sorry for accusing you but he almost got hit by a car and I panicked, okay. I don't want to lose a friend now that I've finally actually made some." I answer, not turning to look at him.
"You know my boss only takes away luck if I really really hate someone who's not in my family, right? An 'I'm suspicious of that kid' won't do it."
Now I spin around to face him. "Are you suspicious of- Alex?"
"It feels like you're lying to me. So yes, I'm suspicious of you two. But I won't accuse you guys for doing anything behind my back, because I can trust you enough to know you aren't, right?" He asks, his green eyes piercing through mine.
Suddenly, I feel really guilty. But there's no way I can tell him that we actually are. Especially not now that he has seen Lucas. Not now that he knows the face.
"You're ridiculous, dad. Of course you can." I say, and spin back to my work.
"Good." He says.
But I can still tell he's annoyed.
I am too, though, so, I guess I can say 'Sucks to be him'.

Since I only have a little bit of hair left to put on, I finish in ten minutes, if that. I show my dad, and he tells me he likes it, then I join Kathy in my room.
"Find anything?" I ask Kathy, who I find sprawled out on my bed, with my pillow on top of her head.
"Ugh..." She groans, "No. Not really."
"And it's so annoying because?"
"Because... I don't know. Waiting is, though."
"I didn't even take ten minutes."
She sits up and stares me in the eye.
