~A Few Years Later~
I smile wide as Kathy enters the room.
"Hey there girlie!" She coos, and I smile weakly.
"Hi, how you doing?" I ask, and she smiles.
"Wonderful! But I think I'm the one who needs to ask you that." She lets out a small laugh.
"I'm fine, Kathy. Is my mom here?" I ask, trying to keep the topic off of me, and if I'm fine. Lucas has asked me that enough today for an entire lifetime.
"Yep! Isibelle, Mikayla, and uh, Levi are here too." She informs me, and it's my turn to laugh.
"Of course they are. Especially that last one. I wouldn't expect you to come visit me in the hospital without your husband, Kathy." I say, and stick my tongue out at her.
Kathy and Levi got married last year. And, yes, Lucas and I did get married as well, two and a half years after we graduated, so, two and a half years ago.
I've been a professional Illustrator/Artist for a year now, and Kathy is working at getting into the fashion design industry, which is just so her. she also does photography in her spare time. Levi is an architect, and is working on getting experience to be considered more official, and Lucas is currently a school counselor. And, from what I've heard, he's very good at it.
Isibelle and Mikayla are two girls that Kathy and I met in university. Isibelle is beautiful, athletic, but most importantly, OBSESSED with fashion, writing, and of course, her friends. She has the biggest heart ever, aside from Lucas and Kathy, of course, and helps out at animal shelters, and women's shelters in her free time. Mikayla is, on the outside, the opposite of Isibelle. She's extremely quiet, and shy, and prefers to stay with the people she knows. But, of course, if she is with the people she knows, she's insane, and amazing like Kathy. Mikayla has a heart just as big as Isibelle's, and she joins Isibelle in volunteering.
"Delilah?" I hear Lucas call my name softly, and I turn my attention to him, instead of my thoughts.
"Yes, Lucas?" I ask.
"Are you feeling okay?" He questions me for the billionth time, and I laugh. I just laugh, instead of getting annoyed.
"For the past several months, and especially the past several hours, you've been asking me that non-stop, Lucas. I'm fine." I assure him.
"I'm sorry, it's just... I kind of almost know how you felt. When I was in the hospital, you know. Except I imagine it was worse for you than it is for me, and maybe I should just shut up, but I'm just anxious. Worried about you and--"
"Lucas." I stop his rambling, and he looks sheepishly at me.
"Sorry. Anxious." He says.
"I am too, honey." I tell him, and take his hand in mine.
I'm assuming Kathy left to go fetch my mom and the girls, so Lucas and I have a moment alone, to talk.
"So is this how you felt? Being in a hospital bed like this? Well, minus the worrying whether you'd survive part. We both know full well that I'm going to survive this." I say with a laugh. There's nothing to cause a struggle to survive for me, really. I'm just weak and tired at the moment, that's all. Well, that, and what Lucas said. I'm anxious. We've been waiting for only ten minutes, but I'm nervous.
"Kind of, I guess. I don't know. I don't know exactly how you're feeling right now, so I can't say." Lucas tells me.
The instant Lucas finishes speaking, My mom, Kathy and the girls, and Levi come in. I smile at them, and Kathy hugs me.
