Cedric looked up at the gigantic walls of the castle and sighed. Finding and getting to the castle was easy. Trying to get in, well, that was a different story. It was the middle of the night, he couldn't just go in through the front door, dressed in black with a pair of knives on him, and demand to see the king.  He didn't think this through enough he knew that, but he also couldn't wait until morning. The King needed to know now, so he could start making preparations.  Cedric pondered on what he should do, thinking that this whole endeavor was useless, until he glanced upon a rope in someones backyard. He grinned as he thought of an idea. He picked up the rope and threw as far as he could up the wall. Taito Cedric whispered and the rope seemed to respond to him. He commanded it to fly up to one of the towers, and wrap itself around it.

'Well, I guess i'll be climbing.'He thought.

After a long time and a lot of sweat, the young mage pulled himself up through a window. When he caught his breath he surveyed his surroundings. The room was filled with swords, armor, shields and other weapons.

'It looks to be an armory of some kind. I wonder if it's anywhere near the kings room'.

Cedric opened the door to the hall and stepped out. He quietly crept around the corner and saw a guard standing there. Damn, he knew that guards would be about the castle, but he didn't expect to see one so soon. He didn't even have a plan for what to do when he saw one.

'I guess there's no choice but to knock him out, it's for the greater good'.

The assassin crept towards the guard with his dagger in hand, and then smashed the pommel of it into the helmet of the guard. He crumpled onto the ground unconscious. There was no time to feel bad, he had a mission to do. He left the man there and proceeded sneaking around. He thought about what to say when he met with the King, but then he figured he would just improvise when he got there. He was, after all, quick on his feet. Cedric check the rooms of the castle, but there was no sign of the King anywhere. He was starting to wonder if the King even lived in the castle. The mage wandered through the large empty halls, admiring the architecture and the paintings, when he came across what seemed to be a library.

'I guess it wouldn't hurt to check in here, would it'

Stepping through the doorway, he saw that there were hundreds of bookshelves lined with thousands of books. He whistled. It was impressive, the assassins guild never had anything like this. Cedric knew how to read, he just has never had the chance to sit down and pick out a book. He didn't even have time now, but still maybe glancing at a book couldn't hurt. He pulled one off the shelf labeled 'The Mage of Destiny' and opened it up.

'Valrex, also know as The Mage of Destiny, was the most powerful magic caster to ever exist in his time. As a mage he had access to a variety of magic, and while most other casters would learn a spell that would take years, he would master it in a matter of days. Even the other mages who studied with him could not keep up. He surpassed his teachers and managed to become one himself. As a teacher and a powerful mage he was allowed access to valuable secrets kept by the council of magic'.

'Council of magic? Hugo said that they would kill me if they found out I was a mage. I guess they were different back then'.

'Valrex sought to become stronger so that he could protect his village, friends and family. However, not once did he try to use dark magic as he knew once he accepted the power into his body, he would never be the same again. It is not known exactly how he acquired his power that made him a force to be reckoned with, some say he discovered it already within himself, while other claim the gods bestowed it upon him. Whatever the reason, Valrex gained the power he wanted, and he would need it soon, as a war was brewing'.
