~Jefferson's POV~

Leaving Penny was the hardest thing to do today. We had spent the morning together and the time we had in the shower was amazing. I have never met a girl so free and open as she is with me. I jumped down out of her window and listened to her get ready at the bottom. Is that creepy? Maybe a little bit, but I am falling hard and that is scaring me. I know that she could still find her mate and that would leave me alone again. Loosing my mate was upsetting enough and I dont think that I can go through the pain of heart ache again.

I took a deep sigh and then walked to my car to head home. I hated to leave her, but I know that she would be safe with her family. My wolf already was feeling a pull to Penny and it was discerning. I know that he would have just as much heartbreak as me if not more. I didn't want to put him through that again.

I pulled up to my house and started to get my things together for training. Most my stuff was already together, but I had to throw a few things in. I grabbed a bowl of cereal and then headed out the door with an apple in my mouth. Just as I was about to turn around to head to my car Ashley stopped me. I forgot that we use to carpool to training. Ever since I have been hanging with Penny more I have forgotten my normal routine.

"Hey Jefferson. Ready?"

"Woah, Yea Ash, lets do this."

She skipped over to my car and waited for me to open the locks so she could get in too. I clicked the button and in we both got. I started the engine and headed towards the arena. I hoped that I would see Penny's dads car so that I could get a glimpse of her, but I forgot that he had told her that he wanted to get there early because he had some things to attend to. So I wouldn't be seeing her until I got into the arena. Ashley blasted my stereo making it easy for me to get lost in my thoughts and not have to worry about her talking to me.

Soon as I parked in a spot she hopped out and came around to the other side. She punched my arm and it shocked me a second. Why was she hitting me?

"Yes? What was that for?"

"Whats your deal? You seem like you are so far away I dont know where you ran off to?"

"Sorry. I am just out of it. Have a lot on my mind."

"Its okay. But, you know if you need someone to talk to you can always talk to me. You know that right?"

"Yea Ashley. Thank you. Ill remember that."

Just then I wrapped my arm around her shoulder and walked into the arena. Not even thinking anything of it because it was a friendly gesture towards Ashley. We had never been together nor had we ever even thought of each other that way. She was an innocent girl that was determined to make her mate wait til marriage. She hadn't found him yet, but she swore she could feel him. So he had to be in some neighboring pack that was close. I hoped she found him soon so that she could have some sort of happiness. I only ever want my friends to be happy and enjoy what they can have. What the Goddess has set up for them.

Just as I went to throw my bag down I felt a pair of eyes on me. I wouldn't of noticed it if I hadn't been looking for her. But, there she was. Standing with the other new recruits watching me walk in the building with my arm draped around Ashley. I knew she had to have some feelings toward it. I felt like we were beginning to be more and break that just friends barrier that she tried to put me into. I know that we both understood that something more was happening. Everyday it was starting to get to be more.

I could see a fire in her eyes and then it was gone. I tried to mind link her, but she cut me off. I tried over and over and nothing. Just hit a hard wall made me humph and sit down. I was on my way over to her to talk with her face to face when Warrior Greg walked into the room. Three loud and strong whistles blared.  We all stood at attention and waited for his words of wisdom. He was a strong and wise Warrior. He was hurt some time ago and now was sent to train and teach the future warriors above him. He should be watching over the Alpha, but that was not in the cards for him and he didn't take it personally.
